Job Description
Ilmor Engineering provides design, development, testing, and manufacturing of performance engines and parts for major manufacturers and racing teams throughout the world. Our clients include automotive, marine, IndyCar, ARCA, and NASCAR among others.

Summary:
The Product Development Engineer manages the design, prototyping, and testing of new products to ensure that they meet the standard guidelines, management expectations, and customer expectations. Once approved, the product development engineer leads the team in developing the prototype. In subsequent productions, the engineer steers the team to ensure the timelines like budget, dateline, goals, and product functionality and maintained.
Essential Job Functions (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):
- Conducting market research to understand improvements and missed opportunities in the market worthy of new product development.
- Identify customer needs by integrating market research with company policy.
- Utilizing relevant software to conceptualize new product ideas.
- Develop the necessary prototypes utilizing rapid manufacturing and fabrication processes.
- Product testing throughout the product design phase to troubleshoot any potential problems.
- Fine-tune and adjust the product design to ensure the approved plan is the best for market, budgetary and environmental concerns.
- Deliver the product specification, process, and procedures to the manufacturing team for production.
- Generate and present reports using analysis and test results.
- Create documentation during each stage of the development and production process.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with strong understanding of Powertrain Applications.
- High energy and a passion for boating & being out on the water
- Verifiable SolidWorks capabilities, Certification highly desirable
- Demonstrated innovative spirit
- Mechanical aptitude/capability
- Excellent communication skills with a team player mentality
- Strong hands-on assembly skills
- Hands-on boating experience and an understanding of boat rigging
- Proficient with computers and Microsoft applications
- Data acquisition and post processing experience
- Able to work well on a team and independently
