THE ROLE:
We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Product Development Manager to join our growing Research, Nutrition, and Innovation department. In this role, you will be responsible for driving forward the iteration and innovation of AG1 and other physical products at AG including current and future offerings.
Our ideal candidate has incredible attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and is passionate about pushing boundaries . You have deep working knowledge about the supplement industry and will serve as the ingredient and formula expert when it comes to product development at Athletic Greens.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Gain a deep understanding of the Athletic Greens product portfolio; identify and fill product gaps, and generate new ideas that grow market share, improve customer experience and drive growth.
- Serve as a thought leader by offering professional expertise and input into the innovation and iterations of the formula and ingredients behind AG1 and other products.
- Continuously review and learn about the AG1 product through continuous research, clinical studies, third party sources, and other forms of research by partnering close with the internal Research team.
- Work with internal and external groups to create a long term physical products roadmap.
- Scope and prioritize product development activities based on complexity and customer impact.
- Write new product development briefs leveraging research insights and competitive analysis to bring new innovative ideas to market.
- Write and develop new standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve process, flow and outcomes which should be done prior to any project work.
- Offer input and assistance in the label review process.
- Participate and help support the formula review process.
- Actively engage in reviewing of Certificates of Analysis on ingredients and offering sound judgment on the approval process.
- Partner closely with the Research team to expand and dive deep into product development for specific ingredients.
- Help execute on new product launches, partnering with the communications team, executives, and other product management team members.
- Work in lockstep with the Finance team on product development and R&D budget including packaging, ingredient sourcing, testing, etc.
- Partner with key stakeholders such as the Research Team, Sourcing, and Procurement to ensure highly quality of ingredients.
- Work closely with customer facing teams to review consumer feedback and advise on potential formulation or product changes/development.
- Assist with managing inventory timing across packaging components, phased out ingredients, and finished goods to coincide with new product releases and to minimize waste across our supply chain.
- Work with our external vendors and manufacturers on the sampling process and ensure we have a robust User Acceptance Testing for all new product releases.
- Work closely with our Quality team to establish stability and quality testing of all new products, including product labeling and FDA compliance.
- Work with the Quality team to manage certification and approval processes across different geographies.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
- Minimum of five years of experience working in a product development and R&D focused role within the food or supplement industry.
- Background in sciences including integrative medicine, naturopathy, biochemistry, biology, chemistry or related sciences.
- Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle.
- Intellectually curious and motivated to learn more about the Nutrition, Research, and Innovation strategies for Athletic Greens products.
- Someone who is naturally solutions-oriented and is comfortable working with ambiguity.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership for outcomes while prioritizing and juggling multiple projects.
- Strong adaptability, flexibility and resourcefulness.
- Demonstrated experience and ability in forming relationships with and working with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external, in a remote environment.

Athletic Greens is dedicated to providing equitable and competitive compensation & benefits packages. For this particular role, the annual base salary range is $85,000 - $145,000 and will ultimately be decided at the offer stage, based on an individual candidate's level of skills and experience aligned with the needs of this role. Base salary is one component of total compensation for this position. We provide a competitive mix of base salary, performance bonus, and stock option allocation for eligible roles.
