Product Development Scientist

We're hiring a Product Development Scientist!

About this position

The Product Development Scientist will lead the technical direction of products (dietary supplements, functional foods, skincare, etc.) for the U.S. and International markets. This position works closely with the Product Marketing, Operations, and external Contract Manufacturers to create new concepts and develop them into world-class finished products with benefits and claims substantiated by scientific research.

What you'll do

• You will generate innovative product concepts with strong positioning advantages vs. competitors for global markets. Proactively scout and identify the latest emerging technologies and science to apply to new product launches.
• You will identify formulation problems, provide suggestions for the next steps, and communicate progress to the management and R&D team members.
• You will conduct experiments to characterize new product quality attributes which support the generation of the product release criteria for manufacturing.
• You will conduct IHUTs and UATs, including the preparation of surveys, questionnaires, and product prototypes.
• You will provide direction to individuals responsible for the technical documentation collection and verification process and guidance to Product development Specialists.
• You will write and initiate departmental and interdepartmental processes and SOP.
• You will identify continuous learning training and skill requirements to enhance the R&D function.

You should have

• You have a Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or a related scientific field.
• You have five or more years of experience in dietary supplement products and commercialization.
• You can collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Operations, Quality, Regulatory, and Marketing.
• You have knowledge of GMPs and broad experience in laboratory environments.
• You have excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to provide a formal technical presentation to management.
• You can manage multiple aggressively-paced projects simultaneously.
