Product Engineer

Wolfspeed, CREE's Power and RF division, is seeking a Product Engineer for their RTP location.

As a Product Engineer in the Discrete Power New Product Introduction Group, you will be responsible for Product Development from Concept through Commercialization. Products will include new technology nodes and Product Family proliferation for Wolfspeed SiC discrete MOSFET and Schottky devices. Product Engineering ownership for the New Product Team will ensure efficient integration and test coverage to deliver products which achieve the business goals for Yield, Quality and Reliability.

What can you do for us?

• Yield analysis and statistical analysis throughout the development cycle to ensure Yield, Reliability and Cost goals meet the Product Definition requirements.
• Represent Business unit in Product Change Review board meetings for continuous improvement and capacity expansion initiatives.
• Interface with backend contract manufactures for new product set up and yield monitoring.
• Own Safe-launch activities for new products as they are released to production. Ensure product compliance to business and yield goals.
• Work with R&D Process development and Operations team on integration of new process technologies.
• Own disposition decisions on NPI Fab material.
• Participate in RMA activities to ensure key risks are mitigated throughout the entire portfolio and to ensure risks are considered in the commercialization process.
• Interact with Wafer Fab operations team to schedule and track qualification Lots.
• Specify package build specifications for new discrete power devices.
• Support Product Managers during development phases of new product qualifications
  • Monitor production SPC related to new products
  • Track new product lots through fabrication and testing
  • Analysis of probe data for development lots
  • Verification of product layout during fabrication
  • Understand and vet fabrication flows for new products
• Serve as an intermittent onsite presence to evaluate product integrity
• Prioritize and drive resolutions to fabrication challenges that may arise during development
• Participate in fab and test daily operations meetings

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field
• Strong understanding of semiconductor device fabrication and assembly technology
• Exceptional data analysis and problems solving. Solid understanding of DOE, ANOVA and Yield Analysis
• Independent and self-driven, able to identify, confront, and resolve difficult problems.
• Demonstrated ability to influence and drive cross-functional teams for product deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3+ years of industry experience in process engineering, test, process integration or product engineering in a semiconductor wafer fabrication facility
• Power Semiconductor device physics knowledge. Working knowledge of power semiconductor testing, qualification and reliability.
• Experience in implementing Good Die Bad Cluster, Static Part Average Testing or Dynamic Part Average Testing is a plus
• Knowledge and experience of Product Qualification to Automotive standards, particularly AEC-Q101 Discrete product standards.
• Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field
• Experience with semiconductor product development and commercialization
• Six sigma black belt, green belt or significant Quality system training and experience
• Experience in SiC wafer fab process engineering, package processing or process integration.
