Role Summary
Product Engineer wanted in Troy, Michigan to Develop, design, and improve new and existing automotive components, assemblies, and systems
Key Responsibilities

• Be responsible for the implementation of design of highly complex components and systems within operational, cost, timing, safety, reliability, quality, manufacturing feasibility parameters and in accordance to Exteriors QSR (Exteriors Operating System) compliant with ISO/TS 16949:2002.
• Provide engineering direction and support to design personnel, including but not limited to the development of preliminary design criteria and concepts.
• Update and maintain engineering and program documentation, including but not limited to leading the development of DFMEA's, DVP&R's, timelines, open issues, budget tracking, GD&T, ECN's and DCR's.
• Coordinate, support, and document benchmarking activities.
• Establish targets for components, assemblies, and simple systems.
• Support moderately complex technical program issues and support lead engineering on complex program issues.
• Interface and coordinate activities with CAE, testing, plants, R&D, Program Management, Sales and Marketing, as required.
• Investigate and resolve component and assembly problems with minimal guidance utilizing 8d's, DOE's and other problem solving tools.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

• Lead investigation of simple problem issues, including the support of Six Sigma projects as required using DFSS tools.
• Support program management with activities as required, including RASIC Chard, Gate Reviews, etc.
• Support prototype manufacturing and build activities.
• Assist in product development control cost; Implement customer specific requirements per OEM as required, refer to quality per QSR handbook.
• Actively participate in continuous product improvements and innovation objectives.
• Lead design coordination with Tier 2 suppliers; Coordinate development materials and services, i.e. mockups, rapid prototypes, developmental testing, etc.
• Support engineering best practices and lessons learned into product designs and communicate lessons learned for the benefit of other programs and identify and report any problems related to the product, process and quality system.
• Engage in prototype development for automotive components using aluminum die casting and metal stamping for chassis and using DFMEA; and perform other duties as required.

Additional Information

• Requires a Masters Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering and 24 months of experience as a Product Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Prototype or Prototype Build Engineer.
• The related experience must include engaging in prototype development for automotive components using aluminum die-casting and metal stamping for chassis and using DFMEA.
