PRODUCT ENGINEER
SALARY RANGE - $60,000 - $80,000 - DOE

SUMMARY
Provides technical guidance and assistance to other Cornell engineers, technicians, drafters, Sales and Operations personnel by performing duties outlined below. May also direct, coordinate, and exercise functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects of major complexity and scope within area of assigned responsibility by performing project engineering duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Be knowledgeable of product lines. This requires maintaining current in-depth engineering knowledge of standard products and their features.
- Mechanical design and analysis of centrifugal pumps, including metallurgical requirements.
- Provide technical support to other departments, including sales and manufacturing: product application, value engineering and problem solving. This includes responsibility for standards and work instructions.
- Provide dealer, end-user, and sales staff training in product application and maintenance.
- Responsible for Order Related Engineering duties including but not limited to: BOM creation and approval, drawing creation and approval, B10 calculations, and order related Sales inquiries.
- Design, schedule and perform (as required) all required product testing and evaluate results.
- Investigate to determine causes of reported field problems with products, including warranty requests for failed product. This will require travel in some instances.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
May directly supervise Drafters and Engineering Technicians. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and two years industry experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Formal Solidworks training/certificates preferred.
