Job Summary

The Product Engineer will be based in Northfield, MN. This person will be responsible for introducing new flex circuit applications into the factory in accordance with Sheldahl New Product Introduction procedures, and Project management on collaborative efforts.

WHAT A TYPICAL DAY LOOKS LIKE:

• Working with customers to implement Design for Manufacturability (DFM) standards.
• Working with customers to translate electrical schematics into product designs
• Project lead on collaborative efforts with Flex and outside companies
• Collaborating with CAD Technicians to establish layouts and generate necessary fabrication tools and artworks.
• Establishing timing plans and coordinating the fabrication of prototypes, production first article runs, and collaborative efforts.
• Providing fabrication directions to prototype technicians
• Identifying and resolving technical issues that arise in the development phase.
• Keeping accurate and timely records of all work product
• Working with Product Managers and Business Development Managers to estimate and verify factory costs and lead times to produce the product.
• In the Sheldahl MRP system (Oracle), entering item numbers, bills of material and routings that provide all necessary instructions for mass production.
• Partnering with Quality Assurance to verify Sheldahl processes are statistically capable of manufacturing the product with acceptable yield and predictable results, using the standard Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
• Up to 30% Travel to customers and vendors
• Data Analysis and Report writing.

THE EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING TO ADD TO THE TEAM:

• 4 year Degree or equivalent industry experience. Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering, Circuit Design, Applications Engineering, Prototyping and Project management a plus.

• Sheldahl's or general flexible circuit fabrication processes
• Computer proficient
• TS16949/ISO/APQP Basic mechanical fabrication
• Basic mechanical fabrication
• Strong interpersonal communication
• Providing feedback diplomatically yet effectively
• Self-motivating, self-starter
• Project management and coordination
• Trouble shooting / problem solving
• Operate effectively under pressure; time and delivery deadlines.
• Train or teach others
