Product Engineer I-Test

General Summary: With minimal supervision, provide engineering support and process improvement

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• May assist in audit responsibilities within a plant. Design and setup electronic and mechanical equipment to perform special or non-routine engineering tests.
• Work closely with Global team to maintain standardization.
• Perform/Assist with the management of weekly engineering testing.
• Schedule non-routine engineering testing with program engineers.
• Ensure testing is correctly performed on all shifts.
• Implement changes as needed in lab routines, modification of test set-ups, stress reduction methods for the benefit of the technicians and labor savings.
• Conduct or assist with troubleshooting and repairs.
• May assign tasks to the electronic and mechanical technicians.
• Ensure Lab consumable list up to date
• Training of Test Technicians when new equipment is added or procedures updated
• Help meet cost reduction targets
• Continuous improvement of equipment and procedures to improve Safety and Quality
• Specify and develop procedures for test equipment required to support engineering and production testing.
• Conduct or assist in software development for ballistic testing.
• Work with design engineering for fixture development and lab modifications.
• Interface with Engineering to accomplish testing requirements and develop test plans.
• Write engineering reports to qualify new and improved data acquisition systems and test methods.
• Coordinate contracted work with vendors and outside test laboratories.
• Assure quality of test data and data collection devices.

Ability:

Basic computer systems, PLC and hand tools.

Excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational skills. Minitab and statistical analysis. Knowledge of GD&T

Education/Experience:

Requires a Bachelor's Degree in technical field. (Engineering Preferred) Entry Level.

Physical Requirements:

Must have hand dexterity at moderate speed with accuracy for half of each day. Requires steady, active effort and continuous walking. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to work in all areas of the plant.
