Product & IT Project Manager
Job Description
Discovery Education is looking for a Product and IT Project Manager to support our finance and accounting, product and corporate IT teams.
This role sits out of Charlotte, NC headquarters with a hybrid work schedule. This role may require up to 10% travel and may include international travel.
As our Product & IT Project Manager, you will serve as a coordinator, resource planner, manager and "crossroads" between our product engineering and development, corporate IT and corporate finance and accounting teams. Additionally, you will be the "custodian of product and corporate IT vendor contracting, invoicing and reporting and be responsible for project finance and reporting."

In this role, you will (Just a few of the things you will do on any given day):
- Prioritize and manage resources including cross functional internal teams and external staff augmentation for complex customer- centric technical products and services.
- Work with product and corporate IT leadership as well as software vendors to respond to end-user product questions and needs.
- Independently monitor product development and Corporate IT projects and continuous evaluation of active projects and their statuses and roadmaps to creation using both to create and present monthly progress reports and updates to corporate accounting and finance.
- Review project roadmaps, milestone reporting, and project estimates to complete - both in terms of time and dollars/cost in partnership with the Product team's project managers, offering support for coding and expense classification.
- Review and assess the current portfolio, identify gaps in current technology and recommend changes so SLAs can successfully be supported.
- Responsible for coordinating vendors, project managers, and service providers in the timely receipt, coding and submission of vendor invoices to Corporate Accounting, on behalf of the Product Software and Corporate IT functions.
- Facilitate and lead project discussions, decision making and conflict/roadblock resolution.
- Help create and disseminate internal and external communications and improve project status reporting transparency.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of project and/or program management experience for software technology products that includes resource management and allocation and a Bachelor's degree or higher.
- Share our passion for transforming teaching and learning with education or edtech experience a plus.
- Strong organizational, mathematical and logical deduction skills.
- Systems and processes implementation project management experience that includes enterprise information systems implementation.
- Strong customer service and client/account management capabilities.
- Previous Agile and/or Scrum experience, scrum team support and milestone achievements.
- Innovative thinker who enjoys improving processes by leveraging technology to drive efficiencies.
- Excellent verbal/written communication and problem-solving skills.
- Fundamentally sound Microsoft Excel skills.
- Advanced mathematical and logical deduction skills,
- History of hiring and staffing external technical resources such as contract workers.
- Ability to read, interpret and translate technology contracts, invoicing terms and expense recognition timing.
- Experience working with an agile project tracking systems with a preference for Jira.
- Certifications or accreditations in software development, project management and/or finance desired but not required.
- Legal right to work in the United States.
