Job Description

Datavant is a data logistics company for healthcare whose products and solutions enable organizations to move and connect data securely. We are a data logistics company for healthcare whose products and solutions enable organizations to move and connect data securely. Datavant has a network of networks consisting of thousands of organizations, more than 70,000 hospitals and clinics, 70% of the 100 largest health systems, and an ecosystem of 500+ real-world data partners.

By joining Datavant today, you’re stepping onto a highly collaborative, remote-first team that is passionate about creating transformative change in healthcare. We hire for three traits: we want people who are smart, nice, and get things done. We invest in our people and believe in hiring for high-potential and humble individuals who can rapidly grow their responsibilities as the company scales. Datavant is a distributed, remote-first team, and we empower Datavanters to shape their working environment in a way that suits their needs.

Datavant is growing rapidly and we’re looking for an experienced professional to join our Product team. Datavant Product Managers focus on one or more of the components of Datavant Connect, our platform enabling secure, compliant real-world data connectivity. Davant Connect enables customers to tokenize data, find and assess potential data partners, and connect datasets at the individual level while preserving patient privacy. We have on-premise and web-based tools to help find potential data partners, assess whether a dataset is fit-for-purpose, compliantly connect across disparate datasets, and deliver the data to where it needs to go.

About the Role:

This role is a leadership position focused on guiding the vision and execution within our product team. You will be responsible for setting ambitious goals, aligning organizational resources, and driving execution through both motivation and hands-on involvement. Your role will be crucial in understanding customer needs, aligning them with our capabilities, and defining a roadmap to achieve our strategic vision.  Specifically you will:

  • Develop and drive the team’s vision for our product area(s) by synthesizing customer feedback and aligning it with organizational goals.
  • Deliver across the product lifecycle. Partner closely with engineering to ensure the quality of new product or feature launches, support a scalable infrastructure, and reduce maintenance on mature offerings to create a strong ROI. Monitor KPIs and solicit Datavanter feedback to track product health and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Be customer centric by obsessing about solving the customer’s problem. You review customer feedback and contribute to the strategy around customer research, feedback collection, and metrics.
  • Have good judgment by asking the right questions and making informed decisions on tradeoffs. You own decisions for small features and larger features with support. You manage against over-analysis in favor of speed, and you know when to escalate potential issues or edge cases. Your actions and recommendations often lead to successful outcomes.
  • Be extremely organized. You keep yourself and the team organized with clear expectations, to-do's and timelines and manage the execution of small and medium features on time and at high-quality. Your docs provide clarity and motivation for what we need to build, and you know how to synthesize large amounts of input and feedback and communicate back to the right stakeholders.
  • Ship product by working closely with engineers to define and release features. Prioritize the right features and scope, see around corners for potential roadblocks, drive the right project plans, and ensure timely releases that delight customers.
  • Drive adoption by working closely with Product Success, Customer Success and Datavant’s sales team. You add value to this process by removing objections and roadblocks; you get value from this process by getting a firsthand view of how the product is received.
  • Have a great attitude by remaining positive, adapting to new feedback and market changes, taking in new information quickly and leaving your own biases at the door, and reacting quickly and dispassionately when something goes wrong–as it inevitably will!

About You

  • You are a seasoned leader with a strong technical background, comfortable collaborating closely with engineering teams.
  • You understand health data and can translate that knowledge into scalable product offerings that delight our customers.
  • You are highly organized and have strong project management skills: others are confident in a project’s outcome when they know you’re owning it.
  • You have high bandwidth and high productivity: others wonder where you find time to do all you do. Your secret is that you are quick to understand, formulate, and respond.
  • You obsess over customer satisfaction and enjoy interacting with and getting product feedback from customers early and often.
  • You are a great communicator and have the confidence to lead meetings with anyone or any group within the company. You have the ability to explain strategies, rationales and products in terms that each audience can understand.
  • You are a trusted collaborator: you always put yourself in other’s positions and understand their motivations, needs, perspectives and potential points of confusion. You have great relationships with your go-to-market, technology, and operations counterparts and are adept at aligning those stakeholders around shared goals.
  • You are an exceptional writer of documentations, presentations, diagrams, mockups. Your documentation leads to discussions about the content, not about what is intended.
  • You work hard and are at your best working at full speed and you love what you do.
  • You are motivated by getting stuff done: you are wired to both set the big vision and to make continual steps towards that vision. Neither vision setting nor execution is satisfactory by itself to you - you want both.
  • You are proactive: you define how the product should evolve and have a bias to action.
  • You like to figure things out. You might not have all the answers, but you don’t mind rolling up your sleeves and diving into the problem. You work hard to solve problems and are eager to learn new skills/technologies.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years in product management or a similar leadership role, ideally in healthcare, healthtech, software, or data analytics.
  • Understanding of healthcare data ecosystem stakeholders
  • Experience in Jira and GitHub
  • Understanding of agile software development
  • Experience working with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills

Preferred

  • Professional or academic background in computer science and software engineering is preferred
  • Understanding of data operations, standardization, normalization and ETL processes
  • Understanding of APIs

Individual rates for the same job title may differ based on their level, responsibilities, skills, and experience for a specific job. The estimated salary range for this role is $250,000-$280,000.

If you choose to respond, your responses will be anonymous and used to help us identify areas of improvement in our recruitment process. (We can only see aggregate responses, not individual responses. In fact, we aren’t even able to see if you’ve responded or not.) Responding is your choice and it will not be used in any way in our hiring process.
