Department Description:

The National Product Design and Management (NPDM) department optimizes our health plan product and capability portfolio in support of Kaiser Permanente's overarching growth and retention business objectives. The National Product Design and Management team drives the vision, strategy, design, and execution of Kaiser Permanente's product suite across the end-to-end product development and management life-cycle. We are structured in a way to support national and regional product and capability needs utilizing common tools and analytic models to ensure consistent and effective work.

Within NPDM, sit the Medicare Supplemental Products and Ancillary Product teams. Medicare Products develops and manages national Medicare supplemental benefits and products. The Ancillary Product Team has three core accountabilities: national ancillary product strategy development and execution, centralized support for ancillary products across Kaiser Permanente, CA ancillary product operations and management. Products in our scope: Optical, Dental, Hearing, Acu/Chiro, Exercise/Fitness. We are experts on the product competitive landscape for ancillary products, local & national trends, and KP product strategy. We have a deep understanding of how our products work, the member/customer experience, and a drive for continuous improvement.

Internship Project(s):

Assigned special projects for ancillary products (e.g., dental, vision, hearing, complementary medicine), including Commercial products and Medicare supplementals (e.g., transportation, meals, care at home) and strategy. To potentially include market research, analytics, and/or project management.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Contributing to a designated project or initiative to meet a KP business objective.
  • Report development and analytics.
  • Project management - planning, execution, and measurement.
  • Learning new applications needed to complete assignments or support the execution of business objectives.
  • Job shadowing in other functional areas.
  • Performing additional duties as required.

  • Pursuing a graduate degree or have completed a graduate program from an accredited university within the last year.

Additional Requirements:

  • Aptitude to perform data and process analytics and formulating solutions.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

  • 3.0 GPA or above
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships as well as strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and experience producing high quality work in short periods of time.
