About Our Summer 2023 Internship Program
Our interns provide valuable support and fresh perspectives to our teams as we work toward setting a new direction in the fight against cancer.
This is a 10-week program, designed to provide impactful work and foster an environment for learning and professional development through mentorship and networking opportunities. Throughout the program, our interns will be empowered to drive key projects with real business outcomes. This is a highly cross-functional and personalized program, offering guidance and support from our Hiring Managers and assigned mentors.
Please note:
Our program is intended to begin mid-June and end mid-late August. The working hours for this role are 9am-5pm Pacific Time, with some flexibility determined by the Hiring Manager and leadership team. This position is open to remote within the US or onsite at our headquarters in South San Francisco.
About this opportunity:
In this role, you will research our users’ needs and define future multi-cancer early detection tests. Freenome’s solutions will enable clarity and access to a new paradigm of evidence-driven cancer screening with providers and patients at the center. Our clinically-focused strategy aims to build innovative solutions to combat cancer.
What you’ll do:
- Design, lead, operate and execute user research through expert consultations and user observations
- Create profiles for a range of external stakeholders, such as patients, providers, and payers
- Define user needs for future multi-cancer early-detection tests
- Support R&D with the translation of user needs into design inputs for future multi-cancer early-detection tests
- Work closely with R&D, regulatory affairs, clinical development, and engineering to represent external stakeholders to our internal teams
Must haves:
- Currently pursuing a Master’s or Ph.D. in Clinical Sciences, Business, or another relevant field, with an undergraduate degree in an analytical, technical, or scientific field
- Or alternatively, within 1-year post-graduation
- Experience defining new products or technologies
- Knowledge of diagnostic solutions and oncology is preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated, solutions-oriented, and action-oriented with an entrepreneurial mindset
