The Role: Product Owner - Derived Data and Analytics

The Grade/Level: (relevant for internal applicants only) 12

The Location: Houston, Denver, Dallas

The Team:

As a Product Owner, you will be responsible for facilitating the day-to-day development of derived data and analytics content for our Upstream North America portfolio. This position is responsible for translating product vision into actionable development requirements and making sure that those requirements are adequately addressed.

  • Acts as the Product Manager and Subject Matter Experts representative in the Scrum Teams.
  • Translates data requirements into user stories to accomplish Product Goal.
  • Partners with Scrum Master and Developers to prioritize Product Backlog items and accomplish substantial value on each Sprint.
  • Works closely with the Upstream Data Operations teams to understand the content and monitor it's availability.
  • Works closely with Subject Matter Experts to support data testing and acceptance on implemented user stories.
  • Responsible for the execution and delivery of derived data and analytics through Energy Studio Impact.
  • Coordinates with other Product Owners to identify process improvement opportunities, product development synergies, and technology sharing potential.

Responsibilities:

  • As Product Owner, you are responsible for communicating and translating the data vision, roadmap and workflow requirements into user stories and employing agile methodology to manage the execution of their development.
  • The Product Owner is key to the development team serving as a proxy for internal and external customers.
  • Translates content requirements into clear & specific user stories for development scrum teams to implement.
  • Plans, prioritizes, and maintains a healthy backlog of user stories aligned with product roadmaps.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders (sourcing, operations product management, development, and delivery) to ensure goals are clear and aligned to business objectives.
  • Communicates the product vision(s) and serves as a champion of customer perspectives in scrum meetings.
  • Identifies and clearly communicates priorities, dependencies, and roadblocks to key stakeholders.
  • Evaluates, tracks and reports on project progress against the timelines, specifications and features defined in the product roadmap. In addition to development against specific customer requests.
  • Anticipates, communicates, and escalates delivery challenges appropriately.

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Technology, Engineering, Geology, Data Science, Business, or equivalent preferred.
  • 3-5 years' experience as a product manager, product owner, in software development, or product support role, or content operations or customer support preferred.
  • Scrum Master Certification required (or obtained within first 3 months on the job).
  • Pragmatic Institute Product Management Levels I and II required (or obtained within first 12 months on the job).
  • Excellent time management, analytical and problem-solving skills required.
  • Project management and Agile experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Azure DevOps, Serena, or Jira preferred.
  • Oil and gas upstream experience required (technical, operational, commercial, or analytical).

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $88,400 USD to $159,725‬ USD. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual's geographical location as well as experience and qualifications for the role.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
