Product Manager

At MessageGears, the Product Management department owns the entire lifecycle of it's products. As a team, decisions are made on the scope for products, the use cases being solved, and customer interviews to collect feedback and shape feature evolution. The Product Manager (PM) owns the detailed product backlog for one or more Agile development teams. This person will work closely with Product Management leadership, User Interface Designers, Developers and QA Analysts to ensure that the development team(s) are building remarkable features that exceed the expectations of the MessageGears customer base.

Requirements

• BA/BS degree or higher in a technical field
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a SaaS or on premise software business
• Previous experience in defining requirements for a complex web application as part of a Product Management organization OR proven success in an adjacent field (software development, client support, marketing, quality assurance) with a desire to begin a career in Product Management
• Experience with email marketing and other marketing technologies is very desirable
• Experience with API design is desirable
• Experience with database fundamentals (basic database objects, basic SQL statements) is desirable
• Self-starter who can manage multiple time-sensitive assignments. Good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product Management leadership on the product roadmap
• Develop a detailed backlog that ensures we are meeting the business requirements of a feature in a way that exceeds our users' expectations
• Ensure that the right tradeoffs are made during development by appropriately socializing changes with MessageGears' leadership
• Define test strategy from user stories / acceptance criteria, map test case requirements and design adequate test coverage plan.
• Define and own test data for all team members to leverage during Unit, Functional and Regression testing
• Translate high-level business requirements from the MessageGears' roadmap into technical requirements and solutions.
• Provide direction for and work closely with one or more Agile development team in creating product releases. The development teams will be creating functionality that is exposed through both UI and API.
• Partner with front end app teams to build new features and functionality.
• Develop conceptual diagrams. Ensure existing documentation is kept up to date.
• Manage multiple assignments and align them with the business priorities & deadlines.
• Take end-to-end ownership of feature releases.
