In our Agile service delivery model, the Product Manager has a significant role in maximizing the value produced by the team and ensuring stories meet the users, CMS, and other stakeholders, needs and comply with the Definition of Done. This role has significant relationships and responsibilities with the internal team, as well as, outside the team, including working with Product Management, Customers, Business Owners, and other stakeholders. The Multi-Carrier System (MCS) Maintenance team is looking for a candidate to fill this role supporting the Combined Common Edit Module (CCEM) and API product teams.

Job Description:

The Product Manager is a member of the Agile Team responsible for defining Stories and prioritizing the Team Backlog to streamline the execution of program priorities while maintaining the conceptual and technical integrity of the Epics/Features or components for the team. The key to success with this position is the ability to build relationships with the team and external teams, including Product Management, Customer, Business Owners, and other stakeholders. This position requires an individual who is knowledgeable with the CCEM software along with X12, HL-7 and FHIR standards. Ability to participate in standard organization meetings, provide summary and strategic input is critical.  

The Product Manager fulfills the following duties:

  • Preparation and Participation in Quarterly (PI) Planning
  • Maintains the team backlog
  • Reviews and reprioritizes the backlog as part of the prep work for Sprint Planning
  • Applies Behavior-Driven Development by collaborating with the team to detail stories with acceptance criteria
  • Accepts stories by working with the team to agree on accepted story completion and validating the story meets the acceptance criteria
  • Understands enabler work by understanding the scope of the enabler work and collaborating with System Architects, SMEs, and others to assist with decision-making
  • Participate in the demonstrations and retrospectives

Experience and Skills:

  • Familiarity with the principles of agile software delivery and lean process management
  • Must be able to work with people at all levels of the organization, including outside consultants and vendors and influence others without formal authority.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Good communication and presentation skills and knowledge of Agile processes and methodologies.
  • Ability to coordinate and influence prioritization of multiple organizational priorities simultaneously
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the product management/product discipline
  • Demonstrated leadership effectiveness engaging delivery teams, customers, and other stakeholders to support business objectives and develop overall product management capability (people, process, product)
  • Basic familiarity with the principles of design thinking, and lean and agile software delivery.
  • Demonstrated leadership, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex issues
  • Ability to oversee cross-site, cross-functional teams
  • Works alongside Agile Product Manager to collaborate and contribute on product strategy and strategic decisions.
  • Bridges the communication between the agile/project teams and key stakeholders by building and maintaining relationships
  • Collaborates with other stakeholders (product owners, project managers, and executive leadership) to define and maintain consistent product goals and vision.
  • Assists with the creation of the product roadmap and continually reviews and refines it as needed.
  • Assists with managing cross team dependencies, negotiating, and reprioritizing as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with client Product Owners to determine if work should be rejected if it does not add value or prevents the team's progress from moving forward.
  • Accepts completed development efforts by ensuring that the user value is delivered, and acceptance criteria are met.
  • Assists with designing, implementing, and performing user acceptance testing on new programs, services, and approaches that meet consumer needs.
  • Collaborate with CMS and Users to understand and anticipate their needs and translate and communicate these to the Scrum Team
  • Manage and prioritize product backlog based on changing needs/requirements
  • Oversee all stages of product creation including design and development
  • Monitor and evaluate product progress at each stage of process
  • Participate in Scrum meetings, including planning, refinement, retrospectives, and stand ups

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience/training required.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience required

Must be located within the United States.  

This is a full time, remote position. Oddball offers a tech and continuing education stipend. This role requires the ability to obtain a low level security clearance.
