Product Manager

Job Description

Overview:

This position oversees and controls all aspects of Product Management of our Control Units & Displays portfolio. This includes product loading, setup and maintenance in SAP, cost and pricing reviews, coordinating, and providing technical sales support to Special Vehicles customers; coordinating with supplying plants on engineering and commercial issues, working with the sales team to generate quotes to OEM vehicle manufacturers, and inventory control including part number phase-in and phase-out.

Core Responsibilities:• Define North America program strategies in alignment with global programs for a market segment e.g., on-highway, off-highway, etc.; define product and market requirements; work with controlling to create and review business cases; coordinate product needs with Product Managers locally and globally; work closely with sales team to coordinate sales effort to OEM customers• Assist sales effort in finding and quoting new business, coordinate projects with Continental R&D and manufacturing sites• Technical coordination and interface with customers regarding KIBES control modules and instrument cluster projects• Monitor market needs for new control module products, displays, and technologies for Special Vehicles (construction, agriculture, powersports, stationary gen-sets, etc.) and for Commercial Vehicles (light and heavy duty trucks); research customer requirements and opportunities• Support the sales team by delivering technical presentations to existing and prospective customers that explain the capabilities of Continental products • Facilitate initial engineering reviews of customer technical specifications and the associated vehicle architecture with the technical team• Align with the technical team to complete the engineering evaluation process and work with the customer to finalize the technical specification, determine which of Continental's products would be applicable to handle the customer requirements• Work with the Continental sales manager and the finance team to develop a business case and quotation that meets the project requirements, and then provide engineering support during the quote presentation• Act as the project manager during the project launch process, including leading customer technical reviews, assisting with product testing at customer sites, and working with the application software team to ensure that technical requirements are met• Be responsible for managing product scope changes that arise during the project launch or after production begins

Additional Responsibilities:• SAP Product Management Functions - SAP material/status management; product lifecycle, inventory control• Document / gather product requirements to facilitate the market introduction of existing and new products to meet customer or market demand for electronic control units and displays• Support industry trade shows through onsite booth representation and product demonstrations

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications:• Bachelor's Degree in Business or relevant • 2+ Years of work experience in Product Management, Technical Product Management, or similar• Advanced MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint skills

Preferred Qualifications:• Knowledge of Automotive OEM industry especially off-highway, truck, specialty vehicles• 5+ Years of work experience in Product Management, Technical Product Management, or similar• Knowledge of automotive circuitry• Knowledge of J1939 CAN protocol• Knowledge of vehicle multiplexing systems
