Mae is a breakthrough healthcare platform on a mission to address Black maternal health disparities, nationally.

Black mothers are twice as likely to experience complications in delivery and 3.3 times more likely to die a maternal death, even with controlling for education, income, and other factors. These complications, injuries, and deaths are largely preventable. Mae provides equitable access to clinically-validated strategies and interventions supporting best-in-class maternal health outcomes.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Product, you will be responsible for understanding our users, solving hard problems, and guiding the development of new product solutions that create value for our members, birth workers, customers, and are viable for our business. 

You’ll help formulate and execute a strategy that underscores the value Mae brings to our partners and their members enabling them to demonstrate a strong ROI for their business efforts and initiatives. This is a unique opportunity to be an early team member of a venture-backed digital health start-up. 


Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Understanding our platform users and their journey through the product by engaging with them directly and often; gathering insights from the maternal health landscape, and internal customer-facing teams continuously to inform decision-making, prioritization and strategy
  • Formulating product goals and strategy that align with business objectives and insights from the market; advancing against these goals each week, month and quarter 
  • Executing product strategy using a hypothesis-driven, data-informed approach to design customer studies to test and validate new product features
  • Developing, maintaining and evangelizing a compelling roadmap 
  • Working closely with Design and Engineering counterparts to build, ship and learn quickly
  • Collaborating effectively with cross-functional partners and stakeholders to gain alignment and achieve goals


Qualifications

  • 4+ years experience in product management in the digital health space, ideally experience with B2B and/or enterprise products. 
  • Proven track record of successfully driving product improvements in lean and agile environments by using all types of learning: Hypothesis testing, MVPs, iterative development, user testing, data analysis, A/B testing, etc 
  • Ability to balance design and technical tradeoffs; taking a scrappy and creative approach to solving customer needs
  • Demonstrate an "eye for design" ミ building beautiful, simple user experiences in collaboration with designers. Having product design skills is a plus. 
  • Comfortable with the ambiguity that comes with doing something new, and working in a startup environment
  • A love for speaking with customers, a natural inclination towards active listening, and consideration of multiple points of view
  • Entrepreneurial enthusiasm and collaborative approach to working and learning
  • Passion and commitment to improving maternal health and the birthing experience of Black mothers.

    For candidates in NYC, CA, CO, the salary range for this role is $100,000 - $150,000 annually. You may also be entitled to receive stock options. Compensation decisions will be based on qualifications and experience level.
