The innovation office at Northern Trust resides with Northern Trust's technology organization under the enterprise architecture group. The team aligns with our technology strategy for the benefit of the business and the company's digital transformation initiative. The mission statement of the team is to bring outside innovation into Northern Trust with the focus on broad scale adoption and impact. The team performs research, testing and deployment of proven emerging technologies and trends. The team serves to inspire and provide thought leadership to key business and technology leaders. We collaborate with the big technology companies and consultancies to ensure the organization's awareness of innovation offerings.
The Innovation Product Owner is responsible for collaborating with vendors and application development teams in the Business Unit (BUI) CIO organizations to enable POCs/POVs and determine best practices, patterns, learning on new tooling and technologies. This will encompass driving communities of interest, messaging and communication to internal stakeholders and executives as well as generating documentation.
Some of the emerging technologies and tooling that are within scope include: Artificial Intelligence (AI as a Service - Azure Cognitive Services), Data Science Platforms such as Azure Machine Learning, Chat Bot platforms such as the Azure Chatbot Framework, Generative Models such as OpenAI's ChatGPT, next generation data and analytics platforms, Causal Analysis frameworks and tooling.
Northern Trust seeks individuals that are highly self-motivated, eager to learn, and are as effective working independently as they are working in a team environment. A strong aptitude towards self-development and growth is highly desired as well as an inquisitive nature for next generation trends and tooling.
Responsibilities:
- Working with business partners and application development team partners to identify and define business outcomes that will create an impact for the business.
- Drive and run necessary meetings between stakeholders to determine acceptable requirements and scope for proof of value projects.
- Maintain backlog of items in preparation of planning and decisioning next steps.
- Drive and coordinate activity for POC/POV stakeholders throughout the duration of the effort.
- Maintain roadmap to ensure stakeholders are informed of current status. The ability to present all facets of the effort to senior leaders.
- Participate in conversations and demos with leading emergent startups, incubators and other innovations teams within Northern Trust to assess strategic needs and trends.
- Setup and run working groups to ensure all stakeholders are informed of key decisions, issues and areas of concern.
- Make decisions based on input from key stakeholders and working group participants.
- Create a working team environment between the many internal teams required for adoption of any new technology or tooling.
- Conduct regular contact cadence with NT's emergent technology vendors to ensure NT's needs are being met and align with strategic vision.
- Work with Legal, Risk & Procurement to facilitate the onboarding of any potential new vendors and relationships.
- Must be willing to stay current with industry wide technology developments.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required:
- Bachelor's Degree, CIS or related field
- Background in data or data related fields such as advanced analytics
- Good understanding of Machine Learning and AI concepts
- Exposure to data ingestion pipelines and tools
- Experience in data acquisition from disparate sources (databases, files, APIs, etc..)
- Experience in development methodology and languages such as Python, Java, C#, scripting
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Strong presentation skills
