Job Description

The Residential Product Manager is responsible for the analysis, execution and management of product line strategies. Includes execution of new product innovation, product marketing and financial analysis, profitability, innovative product design, marketing communication and collateral development and support for assigned products.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate activities as a member of cross-functional teams including engineering, sales, channel partners, marketing communication, and customer support to achieve objectives.
  • Analyzes market segments, identifies target customers, and uncovers unmet customer needs.
  • Gathers and prioritizes product and customer requirements including recommendations for innovative products and/or technology.
  • Recommends the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements; appraising new product ideas, product and packaging changes, and/or refreshes.
  • Assesses market competition by comparing the company's products to competitors' products.
  • Provides source data for product line communications by defining product marketing communication objectives.
  • Obtains product market share by working with sales leadership and channel partners to develop product sales strategies.
  • Assesses product market data by calling on customers with field salespeople and evaluating sales call results.
  • Provides information for executive management by preparing short-term and long-term product sales forecasts and special reports and analyses, including phase gate presentations and business cases for new products.
  • Brings new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs; preparing return-on-investment analyses; establishing time schedules with engineering and manufacturing.
  • Introduces new products by developing time-integrated plans with sales, marketing, and production.
  • Determines product pricing by utilizing market research data, reviewing production and sales costs, anticipating volume, channel margins, promotions, and customized orders.
  • Maintains product expertise and education of employees.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required in a Marketing or Business-related field preferred
  • 5+ years experience in product management is preferred
  • Product line and business strategy acumen
  • Able to work in a team atmosphere with little supervision and establish excellent working relationships
  • Self-starter with strong leadership skills
  • Strong interpersonal and meeting facilitation skills required to lead and manage cross-functional team members, internal and external clients, vendors, and channel partners
  • Detailed project planning, negotiation/conflict resolution, and communication skills representing broad business interests
  • Adept at coordinating multiple projects under tight deadlines
  • Travel, including some International travel, as needed
