Product Manager - Biologics
How you'll make a difference?
Manage assigned product lines including the development of new products, and the maintenance of existing products.
What will your Duties and Responsibilities be?

Product Management:
- Capable of managing both upstream and downstream marketing initiatives.
- Create overall strategy for assigned market segments.
- Create complete introduction plans, including support materials.
- Develop and implement complete marketing plan for assigned market segment. The marketing plan will include all objectives, strategies, and tactics for products to be managed.
- Demonstrates proficiency in product and procedure knowledge related to spinal surgery, as taught and measured by the Biologics marketing and sales team.
- Demonstrates exceptional organizational and problem solving attributes. Uses sound judgment while operating autonomously in the performance of job responsibilities.
- Provide support to surgeons and hospital staff regarding new and current Biologics products
Field Communication:
Communication to field sales organization on the following topics:
- Journal articles pertinent to their field of responsibility. As a general guideline, one to two articles per month should be summarized and sent to the field sales organization.
- Release of new products and product modifications.
- Success stories from usage of new products.
Training Program Development:
A complete training module needs to be developed to support the introduction of any new products. This module should be coordinated with the Training Manager. Additionally, the Product Manager will be expected to participate in sales training programs that feature their assigned products.
Product Development:
Participation on Project Management Teams for the development of new products. A Product Manager may be designated as a "Team Leader" and as such may have to assume a leadership role in the development process of new products.
- Develop and strengthen relationships with key surgeons in the specified market segment. These surgeons will play a vital role in the development of new products, and the development of training and marketing materials.
Field Travel:
Should represent about 30-40% of the Product Managers time. The specific areas of travel include: A) Travel to support the hospital sites evaluating new products (prior to product introduction). B) Travel to meetings and symposia. C) Travel with Territory Managers/Distributor Reps to help them properly represent products in their area of responsibility. D) Other travel as required including development of key customers (Product Champions).
Quarterly Objectives:
Development of objectives detailing specific activities. These objectives should be projected on a continuous 12-month basis, with significantly more detail for those objectives for the upcoming 2 quarters. Objectives are to be submitted prior to the beginning of each quarter, and will be reviewed on a quarterly basis.
Forecasting:
Monthly forecasting of unit sales by catalog number (to be reviewed with a representative from the Operations Department).
National Sales Meeting / Region Meetings:
Development of presentation materials to support the objectives of the National Sales Meeting.
Competitive Activities:
Development and maintenance of "Competitive Reference Manuals" for each area of product responsibility. This manual is to include the following minimum information for each competitor: indications, pricing, photographs or illustrations, their methods of selling against our products, our methods of selling against their product. This manual is to be incorporated into the Training Program.
Industry Affiliations:
The Product Manager will manage the logistics and support for conferences as a representative for the Biologics business unit (for example: OTA, NASS, CNS, AANS, Podiatric and Pediatric Societies)
What skills and experience will you need?
- 4 yr. Degree, preferably in Business or equivalent work experience.
- Experience with Biologics or Degree in Science
- Preference for experience in Orthopedic or spine surgery
- Preference for 2+ years' experience with full-line product responsibility.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of Orthofix management and hospital personnel.
- A high level of maturity demonstrated by acceptance of responsibility, level of judgment and decision making, and ability to be flexible and accept change.
- Ability to work independently to achieve goals
- Team player
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office
NONESSENTIAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS (not necessary but preferred):
- Masters degree a plus.

- Regularly required to sit or stand for extended periods of time; frequently required to use business equipment daily such as P.C., copier, fax, telephone, etc.; occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 50 lbs.

- Eyesight and hearing must be correctable to standard level.
