Job Description:
Designs and implements marketing strategies for specific products (software or services) or product lines to establish, enhance or distinguish product placement within the competitive arena. Interfaces with engineering, manufacturing, and sales to develop new products or features and to ensure smooth market introduction. Manages product offerings through the entire product life cycle. Conducts competitive analysis to determine product positioning, market segmentation, channel mix, pricing, volume, product service/support strategy and identifies customer needs. Solution/product planning responsibilities include analyzing/understanding market trends and opportunities, customer business issues and solution requirements within a targeted market segment to develop need assessments and propose business and solutions strategies. Develops detailed product definitions and requirements for R&D/product development.
Knowledge: Expert in the field, generates and promotes new theories, concepts, principles, and methodologies within a specialty area.
• Organizes, leads and facilitates cross-functional project teams
• Develops metrics that provide data for process measurement, identifying indicators for future improvement opportunities
• Significant barriers to entry exist at this level
• Networked within the industry and acknowledged expert by peers
• Represents the company at industry forum and conferences, ensures our events are aligned with our strategy and well represented by the extended Engineering, PM and technical teams
• Technical or business consulting resource to business level managers
• Movement into this level requires approval from CEO and VP of HR - Job Complexity / Contribution : Works as the final point of consultation in most complex problems and provide thought leadership to drive innovation and facilitate breakthroughs for the organization.
• Internally and externally recognized business contributor and premier industry specialist - Supervision : Employee is at advanced level and will exercise wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments.
• Demonstrates influence and mindshare across organization and successfully achieves getting critical mass to reach agreement - Experience : Bachelors and 12+ years of related experience; at this level a post-graduate degree is typically expected or Masters degree and 10+ years of related experience or PhD and 7+ years of related experience
