AS A PRODUCT MANAGER, YOU WILL:

  • Maintaining expertise in the industry as a whole, along with a clear sense of how your product fits into the competitive landscape
  • Roadmap development and maintenance
    • Actively listening to internal and external stakeholders to maintain awareness of features that are not currently on the roadmap, but perhaps should be
    • Communicating with product leadership regularly about feature requests
    • Conducting additional research, as needed, to assist with prioritization
  • Translating requests from clients and/or prospects into product specifications and requirements, in collaboration with the design and engineering teams
    • Communicating with stakeholder(s) to fully understand the request
    • Writing clear product spec that outlines the problem (including user stories), the business reason for solving it, requirements for the desired solution, any reporting and documentation considerations, and timeline considerations.
    • Responding to questions about the product spec and updating it as needed
  • Facilitating roadmap features through the development process
    • Converting the product spec into Jira tickets (the system we use)
    • Tracking the feature through its life-cycle
    • Writing documentation on the feature for internal stakeholders
    • Ensuring that the delivered feature matches the product spec
  • Collaborating with other internal stakeholders, some key examples below
    • With the engineering / QA teams: ensuring that development work matches feature requirements/meets acceptance criteria.
    • With the client services teams: maintaining strong communication to understand challenges for the support, implementation, and engagement teams related to the product so we can continually focus on ease of use and eliminating pain points for existing clients. 
    • With the sales team: working with the sales engineers to understand common requests from prospects and maintaining a sense of market shifts.
    • With the marketing team: meeting regularly to ensure that marketing communications about new and existing product features are accurate and working together to keep the launch process smooth for both teams.
  • Acting as a resource / product subject matter expert for the organization

Periodic responsibilities

  • Conducting user research, as needed
    • Collaborating with other teams to find appropriate participants, both internal and external
    • Using product management best practices to ensure active listening; avoiding leading questions and over-solutioning
    • Capturing the results of that research and translating it into clear product requirements
  • Managing the release process
    • Ensuring roadmap features are delivered in a timely manner
    • Ensuring the product release process is followed
    • Communicating regularly with other teams about the upcoming releases to ensure their needs are met and questions answered
  • Collaborating with business and/or integration partners

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Preferred 3+ years of product management experience, including roadmap creation, feature prioritization, and market research
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Adaptability and strong problem solving skills
  • Excellent active listening skills
  • Ability to build rapport and collaborate with others both internally and externally
  • Ability to communicate in our team style
