We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Product Manager on our Digital Strategy, Operations, and Marketing Team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 2 days a week in the office.

As a Product Manager; you will develop assigned new products or product features for Digital Strategy, Operations, and Marketing unit. Research, design, and manage the complete product life cycle to develop products that meet the MMX criteria of increasing engagement, retention, and acquisition of AMA membership along with improving member experience. Responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and developing Sign-In the AMA's authentication product (SSO). Ensure business goals, product stability, and user experience are enhanced throughout all phases of the product lifecycle. Responsibilities include setting product strategy, prioritizing features, coordinating product schedules with design and IT teammates, and leading all product line life cycle aspects, including marketing to tactical activities. This role requires a blend of business and technical savvy and the drive to develop and launch innovative solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Product Management & Development

  • Implement product life cycle plans for new and existing applications with focus on Sign-in (SSO) technology
  • Demonstrate a deep, functional understanding of user experience and needs
  • Develop, manage, and communicate the product roadmap for designated product line(s)
  • Proactively seek out feedback from stakeholders and provide critical insights on user needs, customer experience, and market goals
  • Keep up to date with authentication technologies, procedures, and development frameworks, including but not limited to OAuth, Okta, SAML, TAM, and Angular
  • Manage, monitor, and improve transactional authentication emails and in-product communications
  • Monitor and analyze user data on assigned products using Google Analytics, Google Data Studio, Quantum Metric, and other dashboards
  • Document product strategy and status of work in progress
  • Create user stories for current and future products based on user feedback and the AMA's position in the marketplace
  • Transform product strategy into detailed business requirements
  • Partner with IT on the technical development of new products or product features; provide critical insights on user needs, user experience, and market goals and establish product timeline
  • Scope and prioritize activities based on business and customer impact
  • Provide the Development team with documentation of use cases, specifications, and tool requirements
  • Create and maintain status reports, charts, analytics, presentations, etc., to document and communicate product vision, achievements, and status of work in progress

Industry Analysis, Analytics & Product Marketing

  • Create business plans that incorporate financial, competition, and market analysis to increase adoption and maximize ROI
  • Conduct tech research surveying the field of authentication products, services, and workflow, to identify gaps in our offering, and generate new ideas that improve the product in its use with AMA systems.
  • Identify and fill gaps in the product roadmap, and generate new ideas that grow market share, improve user experience, and drive growth
  • Conduct customer research, and market and competitor analysis, using qualitative and quantitative data to prioritize and drive decisions

Management

  • Manage relationships with vendors and external technical contractors
  • Manage responsibilities outlined in contracts and statements of work, with regular reporting of project status to management
  • Recognize and identify potential areas where existing procedures require re-engineering, or where new ones need to be developed
  • Raise all concerns, issues, risks to management via a central repository

May include other responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Bachelor's degree in business, economics, computer science, user experience or related field preferred

2. 5+ years' experience as a product manager or similar positions as a product, project, or program manager; related and relevant work experience considered; project or product management certification a plus

3. Demonstrated ability to navigate technical discussions; knowledge and understanding of software development processes and production

4. Experience in technology or data products preferred with the ability to think strategically to drive success of product lines

5. Experience and judgment to identify potential suppliers/business partners coupled with well-developed negotiation skills

6. Metrics driven excellent data synthesis skills to critically analyze and interpret market research and other data, glean insights from that research and apply those insights to develop business cases and plans

7. Excellent financial modeling skills to create models simulating market, financial, and operational performance associated with developing and rolling out new products and services

8. Superior written and oral communication skills, including experience presenting in a large group setting, with an ability to handle executive level discussions as well as technical deep dives

9. Comfortable with collaboration tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Teams, Asana and Salesforce

Technical Skills:

1. Data Extraction and Analysis: Proficiency in using and writing queries through Google Analytics, Quantum Metric, and Lighthouse/GTmetrix

2. Prototyping: Ability to create workflows and lo-fi wireframes across Lucidchart, Sketch, Zeplin, and Figma/Adobe Creative Cloud suite

3. Software Development Life Cycle: Experience as participant or leader in unit testing, code Review, Git workflow, QA/UAT, hot fix deployment, bug tracking, and A/B testing

4. Programming basics: Experience in authoring APIs, and coding in HTML, CSS, Angular, Spring/Boot, Drupal 9+ CMS

5. Product development skills: Must be proficient in user story development and authoring, market/competitor research, SME interviewing and documentation, and product roadmap development. Should have an Agile software development background and be able to work through the various definitions and iterations of this methodology. Must be proficient in use of Jira, Confluence, and MS Office 365 Suite
