Product Manager, Payments Platform

This role is in the Business Platform & Solutions Program. Airbnb is a marketplace that connects guests and hosts while providing the level of trust needed to enable each transaction. Payments is the center to creating that trust, which is why Payments is a core and strategic pillar of Airbnb. 

The Product team is at the center of all of the activity within Payments. We play the role of leader, setting up a brave vision with both a short-term and long-term lens and working together with engineers, designers and data scientists to build great product experiences. Our Payments Product Managers own and lead outcomes related to foundation, growth, and empowerment. This means our PMs set the vision and strategy, the roadmap, and execute on the plans that are developed.

A Typical Day:

Our Payments organization has five programs:

• Core Payments Platform - facilitating money movement and exchange of value,
• Community Platform Experience - fueling growth for our business while providing optimized payment experience for both Guests and Hosts,
• Compliance & Ops - ensuring safe and efficient payment processing,
• Foundation - scaling our systems and infrastructure, and
• Business Platform & Solutions  - easing integration touch points and crafting platform capabilities to unlock business growth both on web and mobile platforms.

We’re looking for people who know and use Airbnb and believe in what we’re trying to accomplish. With that in mind, a Platform Product Manager will be an integral part of the Business Platform & Solutions (BPS) team whose mission is to build a highly scalable and configurable suite of services to improve ease of integration and reduce time to market and power business growth. As a Platform Product Manager you will help drive the product strategy, vision, and roadmap with a high degree of ownership and extend and improve these capabilities on all platforms including mobile which will have a direct or indirect Guest and Host impact. You will lead with minimal guidance and plan a product strategy spanning 6-12 months, identify signals/valuable insights through the journey while cutting through the noise during execution. You will also proactively re-evaluate product strategy initiating discussion with an actionable recommendation on when to pivot vs. stay the course.

Your Expertise:

A successful candidate will be both creative and highly analytical, able to work extremely effectively in a matrix organization, well versed with all platforms technologies including mobile - IOS, Android, and adept at synthesizing a variety of technologies and capabilities into products and applications that business partners and end customers love. We are looking for someone customer obsessed and technology savvy with a proven track record of creating successful products and services.

• Deep payments industry experience; a payments “nerd”
• Five + years building payments or financial products in a product management role,
• B2B product experience primarily on mobile platforms - IOS & Android  with a track record of customer success.
• Ability to narrate a story for what problem you’re solving for and the vision you’re going after, combined with the capacity to dive into minute details,
• Ability to see the big picture and think long-term with a platform mindset and able to connect the dots to unlock business growth opportunities.
• Ability to execute on both local and global scale while collaborating with  business partners across the regions.
• Exceptional ability to create partnerships with business customers.
• Exceptional decision making skills: given limited resources, how do you prioritize across needs?
• Thrives in a startup like environment: loves dealing with fast pace, changing needs, and limited resources.
• Consultative background - loves to engage and solve problems
• Global perspective - experience with global payment methods outside of credit cards
• Excellent collaborator, but comfortable saying no
• Builds for immediate business value but with the long term in mind

How We'll Take Care of You:

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base pay for this role is between $152,000 and $207,500. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.  

Your Location:

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. Airbnb,Inc. can employ in  states where we have registered entities. Currently, employees can not be located in: Alaska, Indiana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Delaware and Rhode Island.
