Job Description

Dovetail is the world’s leading customer insights hub, helping thousands of teams build better products. From user feedback and customer interviews to support tickets and sales calls, Dovetail helps you uncover insights fast—no matter the method. Driven by ambition and innovation, the Dovetail team is customer-obsessed and on a mission to help the world improve the quality of every thing. Join the ranks of Atlassian, The New York Times, Spotify, Universal, Porsche, Starbucks, and thousands more as they put their customer first with Dovetail and improve the quality of their thing.

Founded in 2017 by Benjamin Humphrey and Bradley Ayers, Dovetail has 100+ employees across offices in Sydney and San Francisco. We've created a unique environment to help us achieve our challenging mission. A culture that aspires to excellence, where nothing is too small to be improved.

As a Product Marketing Lead, you’ll work closely with the broader marketing team, product, and go-to-market teams to solve complex problems, define our positioning, and reinforce an incredible product narrative in the mind of our customers and target audience. You’ll be an outstanding communicator and cross-functional collaborator, passionate about helping customers understand the value of Dovetail’s product.

What you'll do
  • Own messaging and positioning. We have ambitious goals of creating a new category of software that helps researchers and their teams develop a new level of customer understanding. You will own how we position the product in market, define our value proposition, and the language we use in marketing material, within the product, and in internal discussions.
  • Develop a deep understanding of our market and customer. We are a customer-obsessed team, but you will take this to an entirely new level of understanding. You will define customer personas, prioritize their biggest challenges, define segments, understand purchasing behaviors, and research competing offerings. The team will look to you as the voice of the customer.
  • Craft and execute elite product marketing campaigns that resonate with customers and target audiences across all channels, including website, social media, email, and paid advertising.
  • Support product launches. Our product team moves fast so we constantly have exciting new features to share with our customers. You will write blog posts, help articles, create launch materials for our sales team, write email newsletters and communicate with our rapidly growing Slack community to support these launches. You also know that a product launch is just the beginning and will support continued adoption of features as our team improves them.
  • Drive cross-functional strategic projects. You will lead and drive cross-functional strategic projects. You'll influence and bring together the team, collaborating with others to translate strategic opportunities into deliverable projects. You will measure and report on the business impact of such projects.
  • Partner with our product and GTM team. Be a close partner with our product, design, and CS and sales teams. You'll contribute to our product strategy, how we prioritize features, and be a constant advocate for our customers. You'll influence and partner with these functions to drive alignment on company-level goals, projects, and activities.
  • Enable our go-to-market teams. Support our sales and customer success teams. Identify and deliver assets, programs, campaigns to accelerate our self-serve acquisition, including webinars and pre-recorded demos. Prepare and drive enterprise cases studies as sales enablement material, drive partnership opportunities and support analyst relations.
  • Lead our product marketing function. You will work closely with our Head of Marketing to build the team, define ways of working and recruit future team members.
Your background
  • Strong product marketing leadership experience. You've launched multiple products and features from ideation to launch to adoption.
  • Experience working closely with product teams. We expect you to jump right in and collaborate with our product managers, designers, and engineers. You've had experience working in the weeds with product teams in making tough priority tradeoffs and helping them set product strategy.
  • Experienced people manager. You have hired, managed, and lead other product marketers. You understand what it takes to be a successful product marketer and you actively work to bring the best out in your people.
  • Clear communicator. We expect you to take big, ambitious ideas and distill them down into concise, exciting talking points. You have experience bringing the voice of the customer to an entire team and get buy-in on your ideas and strategies.
  • Experience with B2B SaaS products. You understand product-led growth strategies for B2B SaaS products and have implemented them before. Freemium growth models, funnel analysis and pricing decisions are areas that you have experience owning and driving.
  • Pragmatism. We're looking for someone who can wear multiple hats across the entire lifecycle of product exploration, launch, and adoption. You are willing to get into the details to ensure consistent messaging for our customers across all touch points.
  • Strong domain expertise is a plus. Ideally, you have hands-on experience working in startups that are growing and transitioning to a more mature scale-up.

At Dovetail, we’re passionate about building and fostering an environment where every team member feels supported and valued. We celebrate individualism, welcoming everyone to show up as their authentic selves every day.
