Your Impact

We are seeking an exceptional Product Marketing Manager to build and lead a team focused on establishing and supporting communication processes and artifacts that support the success of Hearst Magazines' Product, Design and Engineering teams.

You will have the opportunity to work with world-renowned brands, including Cosmopolitan, Esquire, Men's Health, ELLE, Oprah, Runner's World and Harpers BAZAAR, together with hundreds of brands and editorial teams who create content for hundreds of millions of monthly active users.

In this role, you will create strategic go-to-market product plans, positioning and messaging, drive impactful product launches, conduct competitive and market analysis, and work with cross-functional teams to promote our product across multiple marketing channels.

Ideal candidates possess big-picture vision yet the drive and attention to detail to make that vision a reality. You balance strategic thinking with outstanding execution - holding yourself and your team accountable for delivering successful outcomes.

You are a confident communicator with a solid background in relevant industries. You will be able to demonstrate our products' benefits and value, both in collateral and in person. Your love of crafting compelling stories in a fun and simple way, and while balancing quantitative evidence and qualitative factors will help you quickly test, learn, and improve.

What You'll Do
  • Define best practices for the Product Marketing discipline within the Hearst Magazines Product, Design and Engineering team.
  • Ensure that stakeholders understand the value of the products and features that the teams are releasing, adjusting and deprecating.
  • Implement, test, and iterate on feedback loops that reinforce trust between product/service teams and their stakeholders.
  • Partner with the product support team to ensure that they are prepared to effectively address any questions or issues that might arise after releases.
  • Establish guidelines to ensure that the documentation that product and service owners share meet standards that support the success of Product Marketing.
  • Act as a translator, turning technical product language into value statements for users, stakeholders, and partners, including precise instructional documentation and more conversational, benefit-focused presentations to clients.
  • Create a shared language, formalizing a consistent Hearst Magazines product voice.
  • Help define and reinforce naming conventions.
  • Provide support to our product training partners to help drive feature adoption.
  • Create and maintain a library of high-level, visual documentation that tems will reference to understand the content and context of recent changes
  • Manage a persistent set of resources that help users across the organization understand the products and services that we support, including a glossary of high-level information about teams and what they do, services and the value that they provide, and links to essential reports with context to help readers understand how to use and navigate that data.

Who You Are
  • A leader. You take responsibility from inception to outcomes. Determining needs, aligning priorities, delivering to the market and measuring outcomes.
  • Product and user focused. You understand our users and center their needs when implementing processes and communicating the value and benefits of our products and features.
  • Highly collaborative. You build trust and strong relationships at all levels, influence without formal authority, push back when appropriate, earn respect and respect the contributions of others.
  • Excellent communicator. You can articulate the product strategy and roadmap and describe how the problem at hand aligns with those objectives. You are experienced and comfortable gaining alignment and in presenting to senior executives.
  • Strategic thinker. You have a proven track record of generating strategic solutions for business needs.
  • Analytic and results orientated. You can use both hard and soft data to assess opportunities. You are metrics-driven, and ruthless about prioritizing work to move those metrics. You are comfortable gathering data from multiple sources and synthesizing it into accessible information for nontechnical stakeholders.
  • An owner and a motivator. You take the initiative, set the context, listen and find compromises. You push for clarity. You are hard working and accountable.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and change. You are able to meet deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and shifting priorities.
