We are actively recruiting a Senior Business Development and Product Manager for Optics Products within our Engineered Optics group. This position reports directly to the head of Marketing/Product/Business

Engineered Optics is a rapidly growing business within Applied Materials. We are harnessing the power of Applied Material's world-leading material science and nano-fabrication capabilities to enable the next generation of AR displays.

The purpose of the Business Development and Product Manager role is to develop deep customer engagements for our optical products that result in profitable, long-term commercial relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop deep long term customer relationships.

Negotiate and own joint development agreements and programs.

Scope and coordinate customer project plans and Statements of Work, in tight collaboration with engineering

Manage priorities within owned customer projects

Team with Engineering, Technical Project Management, Product Marketing, Manufacturing, and Order Management

Ensure customer satisfaction and execution to your commitments

Transition Joint Development programs into long term profitable product lines. Negotiate supply deals. Make economic models and define pricing. Own the financials of your accounts.

Shape customer and internal roadmaps.

Identify and nurture new business opportunities

Technical sales, field marketing and customer advocacy

Onboard new customers to the system, execute quotes, and invoices

Key skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's or Masters degree, ideally in a technical discipline. MBA a plus
  • 10+ years work experience
  • Excellent communication skills, including active listening and questioning to really understand what customers need, and their alternatives
  • Fluent English language and experience communicating with people from different countries on the phone and in-person
  • Ideally candidates from the optics, consumer device, augmented reality industries, but not essential
  • Business savvy - understands business basics
  • Customer empathy
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Experience influencing action without owning resources
  • Experience in managing customer projects together with the engineering team
  • Experience managing and leading multiple projects
  • Experience negotiating contracts and agreements
  • Has experience with product development of physical products
  • Has experienced new product introduction
  • Experience in product marketing, product management a plus
  • Startup experience a plus

U.S. Salary Range:

$140,000.00 - $192,500.00

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on a number of factors including location and level and will vary depending on confirmed job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
