Job Description

About the Company

Valon’s mission is to empower every homeowner. We believe the journey of home ownership starts when you get your keys, but lasts far beyond. We’re creating a world where home ownership comes with ease, security, and financial know-how. Our growing team of engineers, operators, product enthusiasts, and experienced servicing professionals are leveraging technology to fundamentally improve the homeownership experience. Through mortgage servicing—the process of paying off one’s mortgage—Valon is taking the first step in transforming the industry one homeowner, and lender, at a time.

Product Operations at Valon

The Product Operations team makes it possible for Valon to build, scale, and continuously improve our product and operations. They are our “swiss army knife” builders who embed into various parts of the business. Depending on the maturity of the operations that they’re embedded in, their role can vary - this can range from doing complex manual ops that aren’t ready to be owned fully by Ops to gathering business requirements to building / scaling processes to helping product prioritize the roadmap. The one common thread is that they do whatever it takes to grow and scale the business.

About the Role

We’re looking for a driven and detail-oriented individual who is passionate about building operations from the ground up and can operate in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment. The right candidate can both prioritize for the business strategically and also roll up their sleeves and get into the weeds with the operations. This role requires someone who can forge their own path without clear guidance, tackle complex problems, own processes end to end, and work cross-functionally.

Responsibilities
  • Research business requirements for new processes
  • Build operational processes for your Product Area’s operations team in collaboration with Product, Engineering, Legal and Compliance, and Servicing Operations teams
  • Document day-to-day standard operating procedures for the Operations team
  • Ensure that processes scale gracefully as the company scales
  • Drive process and product maturity to continuously improve operational efficiency and excellence as well as the homeowner experience
  • Help successfully land new process and product launches and develop resources for the Operations team (e.g. project plans, standard operating procedures, FAQs, trainings, etc.)
  • Liaise between various cross-functional teams to discover the best solution for the business
  • Partner closely with the Operations to understand their needs and help drive product roadmap prioritization
  • Project manage various internal workstreams to ensure team success and compliance
  • Develop a deep understanding of the mortgage servicing industry
Ideal Background
  • 5+ years experience working in consulting, finance, product management, or business operations roles in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to operate independently and truly own business results for their area
  • Experience with implementing operational processes and systems to ensure efficiency and scalability
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to drive complex projects to completion
  • Strong project management skills with an ability to prioritize, communicate progress, and deliver results across multiple workstreams
  • Extremely self-motivated and results-oriented — is organized, proactive in finding solutions, and has a strong drive to complete projects
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and at all levels of the organization
  • Excel and Google Sheets skills required
  • Looker / SQL experience preferred
  • Coding experience is a plus
  • Experience in mortgage origination, mortgage servicing, or in the real estate industry is a plus

Benefits

  • Base Compensation Band: $145,000 - $170,000
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance plans
  • Flexible sick and vacation days
  • Monthly lunch stipends (groceries qualify!)
  • Commuter benefits
  • MacBook, custom accessories, ergonomic equipment
  • Support for H1B, TN, and E-3 Visa change of employer transfers

This Base Compensation pay range applies to our New York City located staff and may differ according to location.
