Product Owner
Job Description
Velocity Works is looking for a Product Owner to join our team and work on SaaS projects! This person sees strategic ideas through from design and testing to implementation and market introduction. This role will be focused on a suite of products that integrate into the ADP certified payroll ecosphere.
The ideal candidate has past experience in payroll, as well as juggling multiple software projects across several scrum teams, asking management for resources to hit deadlines, working with the scrum team to mitigate risks, have a strong attention to detail, and a passion for leadership. This job is currently remote.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Lead the planning product release plans and set expectation for delivery of new functionalities
• Provide an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of Release/Sprint Goals
• Work across the scrum team on multiple products as the Product Owner
• Provide vision and direction to the Agile development team and stakeholders throughout the project and create requirements
• Ensure the team always has an adequate amount of prior prepared tasks to work on
• Plan and prioritize product feature backlog and development for the product
• Define product vision and roadmap
• Assess value, develop cases, and prioritize stories, epics and themes to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with product strategy
• Provide backlog management, iteration planning, and elaboration of the user stories
• Work closely with Product Management to create ,maintain a product backlog according to business value ROI
Product Owner specific skillset:
- Balance of technical knowledge and business acumen
- Able to report product updates, risks, and solutions to Executive team
- Comfortable in a leadership role, owning the products
- Proactive, self-starter with excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage, influence, and inspire partners and stakeholders to drive collaboration and alignment
- High degree of organization, individual initiative, and personal accountability
Requirements:
- 1+ years working with payroll in a previous role strongly preferred
- 3+ years experience managing multiple software projects at the same time
- Experience in Construction field
- Past experience presenting to the C-Suite
- BS in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field OR equivalent experience
- In-depth knowledge of Agile process and principles
- Outstanding communication, presentation and leadership skills
- Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills
- Creative thinker with a vision
- Ability to pass a background check and provide references
