Product Owner

This is a hybrid role working 2x per week out of one of our office locations (Irvine, CA | Phoenix, AZ | Atlanta, GA | Akron, OH) or in the Seattle area.
Job Description 

The Product Owner is responsible for converting the product vision and strategy as agreed upon by the Product Manager into features and user stories that will be utilized by the development team. The Product Owner will work closely with Product Managers, Strategic leaders, engineering team, and other Product Owners to both understand and contribute to the overall product strategy and execution. The Product Owner is embedded closely with their scrum teams to ensure that roadblocks are quickly removed and questions do not linger.

Responsibilities 

• Work with stakeholders to understand business problem statements and convert them into user stories 

• Work with Product Manager to create a strategic vision for the product 

• Deep sense of ownership and accountability for the problem solution 

• Manage the product backlog: author epics and stories, actively refine it to ensure well documented requirements 

• Create detailed user acceptance criteria by working with end users and the development teams 

• Assist with testing and removing blockers during sprint activities; supporting team members as needed to accomplish sprint objectives 

• Collaboratively drive the execution of the product: participate in the daily stand-up, proactively manage risks, actively and passionately assist the team to resolve product blockers 

• Partner with UX, business teams and developers to design the solution for product features 

• Ability to change scope based on goals and manages tradeoffs across initiatives 

• Maximize the value addition of the deliverables from the scrum team 

• Have situational awareness and ability to adapt to changing situations 

• Advocate for the customer in the scrum teams

• Document the product features

• Keep abreast of technology evolution and options 

Qualifications 

• 8+ years of software development experience with at least 3-5 years in a Product Owner role

• Strong analytical skills 

• Experience with mission critical SaaS product development

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills 

• Ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements

• Understanding of API & Integration patterns 

• Understanding of secure API development practices 

• Experience working with JIRA and Confluence and other agile development tools

• Understanding of the business value of development decisions and how they affect the lifecycle of the product 

• Ability to work both independently and in various team settings 

• Deep understanding and advocacy for Agile principles and practices 

• BS in a relevant discipline or, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience 

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as developer or lead developer

• Experience as consultant with ability to interface with customers
