Biscom focuses on transforming the way companies share information by providing a fast, reliable, and secure document delivery solution. In 1986, Biscom introduced the world's first network-based computer fax server. Today, the company has evolved from its humble beginnings into a leading secure file and messaging platform that powers the most complex requirements in industries such as healthcare and financial services, where security and speed matters most. As part of a recent investment by ParkerGale Capital at the tail end of 2021, the company is preparing to undergo a period of transformation and growth in 2023 and beyond.

Reporting to the Head of Product in Westford, MA, the Product Owner is a cross-functional role focused on translating product requirements into actionable epics and stories. You will also work closely with Product, Engineering Customer Success and Finance leaders to drive operational aspects of the product development and go to market process with the goal of helping product teams achieve better outcomes. You will use data to drive improvements and enable scalable implementation of new tools and processes. This role is key to the continued successful growth of the company.

What You'll Accomplish - Your Performance Objectives

Objective #1

In your first 30 days:

  • Develop understanding of target market segments and the products that serve them.
  • Write epics and user stories to support one of the R&D teams.
  • Collaborate with product managers and customer facing colleagues to transform requirements into Engineering ready work items.
  • Document the current SDLC and GTM (Go to Market) process.
  • Partner with Engineering leaders to assess, and recommended implementation plan for tools to run/measure product delivery KPIs
  • Develop interim resource utilization dashboards and support ongoing project planning.
  • Objective #2

    In your first 3 months:

  • Implement new tools to instrument and report key process metrics in a way that supports scaling as the product lines grow. (Most likely re-implement JIRA).
  • Run the communication and change management necessary to ensure long-term process and tool adoption/compliance.
  • Automate monthly process and project KPI delivery.
  • Coordinate regular go to market projects.
  • Objective #3

    In your first 6 months:

  • Participate in quarterly product strategy review process; support product and engineering leadership by identifying areas for improvement and developing associated metric-driven plans.
  • Successfully coordinated two software releases with corresponding Sales readiness and Operations readiness activities from the go to market teams.

    Product software development lifecycle competency: You will have a deep understanding of current best-practices to intake product changes to backlog, regularly align backlog with business objectives, review with stakeholders, develop clear actional requirements, and effectively engage engineers to ship successful software releases.

    People management and leadership: You will be experienced implementing and aligning product team members to processes, monitoring performance and mentoring to drive measurable levels of high performance.

    Influencing and relationship building: You know how to influence decision-making at all levels within an organization, and a variety of contexts. You know you can't do it yourself. You have the communication skills and emotional intelligence to quickly establish credibility and gain the trust and respect of everyone in the organization. You must be able to balance asking the right questions with providing the right direction to ensure initiatives continue to move forward.

    Data Driven: You have experience to know when a process doesn't feel right However, you'll want to build a hypothesis and look at the numbers to prove it, and assess the improvement opportunity.

    Accountable: It bothers you when people don't follow through on their commitments. You have no problem planning the work, working the plan, and proactively communicating your progress along the way.

    Collaborative: You have empathy for your colleagues and customers. You demonstrate cross-functional collaboration within the engineering team and seek out opportunities to build relationships with others throughout the company.
