About the Role:
The Product Owner will serve as the liaison between Product Managers (business sponsors, internal and external stakeholders, etc.) and the Software Engineering team to identify and document requirements to expand the functionality of GAINS’ core software products. The Product Owner will also document the functionality of existing software products to prepare these applications for successful customer implementation. The successful candidate will be able to interpret complex business scenarios and describe them accurately using various forms of documentation including Use Cases, Business Rules, Feature Lists, Input Process Output models, Process Flow diagrams, User Stories, and other requirement artifacts. The Product Owner will provide modeling analysis and define user stories during the beginning phases of the software development cycle, as well as provide detailed support to the development and test teams in downstream phases of the SDLC. This role will work within a team of Software Engineers, Data Architects, Business Analysts, UX/UI Designers and Quality Assurance Analysts that operate at a very high pace. The Product Owner will also communicate across internal departments and externally with our clients to ensure requirements gathering is accurate and thorough.
Responsibilities:
Manage the business requirements process - 60%
- Gather and document business requirements and obtain signoff from business stakeholders.
- Research and design functional specifications as requested through internal and external customers.
- Develop, publish, and implement use cases and technical requirements as required.
- Support the development of the functional specifications throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Manage the following deliverables:
- User requirements/stories
- Functional requirements
- Technical requirements (performance, scalability, security, and usability)
- User Interface and Reporting specifications and design
- Use case scenarios
- User acceptance criteria
Act as a liaison between Product Managers and Software Engineering - 30%
- Communicate across multiple levels to obtain and adhere to client and product management requests for software solution deliverables.
- Identify, validate, and document business requirements to expand the functionality of GAINS’ core software products.
- Assist in the process, questions, and techniques to efficiently extract the information needed from product managers for requirements definition.
- Recommend and design solutions that enable product managers to achieve their goals.
- Work closely with the engineering team to define technical requirements, resolve challenges, and ensure timely and high-quality product delivery.
Provide technical support to internal and external customers - 10%
- Work with the UX/UI team, to manage user interface and reporting specifications for requirements documentation.
- Provide assistance to end users in understanding functionality, including technical documentation.
- Communicate appropriately the system design to end users ensuring all goals and deliverables are met.
Requirements:
- 3+ years’ experience as a Product Owner or Business Analyst in a complex cloud-based software environment.
- Experience working as a liaison between product managers/customers and software engineers/QA teams.
- Experience designing web, multi-tenant applications.
- Experience in delivering B2B Supply Chain solutions, B2C experience a plus.
- Experience with Agile Methodology a must.
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably of an Information Systems, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or commensurate experience.
- Understanding of system and UX/UI design techniques.
- Working knowledge of prototyping or other modeling techniques.
- Advanced level of writing technical documentation, formal use cases and user stories, and communicating requirements across multiple end users.
- Willingness to travel as required (up to 15%) to engage with clients and attend industry events.
