Job Description
Data Product Owner
- Become a subject matter expert with illumifin's Health Annuity and Life business while supporting the luma data products and solutions.
- Product Owner collaborates with product management, clients and other stakeholders to understand and anticipate their needs and translate them into product requirements and solutions to increase productivity and profits
- Work with product management to define the vision for the product and create a product road map based on this vision.
- Managing the product backlog and prioritizing them based on changing requirements
- Overseeing all stages of product creation including design and development
- Developing user stories
- Monitoring and evaluating product progress at each stage of the process
- Liaising with product management and end-users to deliver updates
- Interfaces with other architects such as enterprise and application architects to ensure that corporate experience, best practices, product and capabilities are leveraged correctly
- Participating in Scrum meetings and product sprints
- Advises on high-level, complex solution development, processes from concept ideation through development, launch and maintenance
- Develop and propose technology solutions based on client needs and current modern architecture best practices
- Mentors other product owners
- Other responsibilities as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, IT, Marketing, Finance, or business-related field
- 5+ years insurance operations experience
- 2 years' experience in a development role leveraging a combination of SQL, PL/SQL, Java and/or .Net
- 1 year experience in a product owner role
- In-depth knowledge of Scrum and Agile Software Development Methodology
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to communicate design rationale and build consensus
- Ability to prioritize and manage work to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to develop new approaches to complex design problems
- Must have a blend of business and technical savvy to drive the strategic vision
Preferred Experience- Individual life and/or group insurance experience
- Experience working in Product Owner roles in a SAFe agile program
- Training in product management, Pragmatic Marketing Certification
- 3+ years' product management experience for PAS products in the group and individual space
- Experience working with offshore development teams
