The Role
In this role, you will drive the development and evolution of Cover Whale's platform. This includes working closely with the engineering team to prioritize and plan platform development and defining and communicating platform enhancements to the broader organization. The ideal candidate for this role should come from a SaaS platform background, have excellent communication skills, and be able to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced startup environment.
The Product Owner is a domain expert of the platform responsible for owning the product iterations through its lifecycle. You will work closely with the business and development teams to own and drive product backlog items and influence the product roadmap.
The Expected base pay for the role will be between $120,000-$170,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include discretionary bonus and other Cover Whale-sponsored total rewards/benefits.
Please note: This is an on-site role with the requirement to be in the office at least 4 times per week.
Responsibilities:
- Identity, communicate and decompose business requirements into small, estimated, functional, vertical user stories that fit within a single iteration
- Translate feature requests into capabilities and well-defined requirements, helping various personality types understand the requirements.
- Define functional and non-functional requirements in the form of acceptance criteria
- Prioritize and sequence stories to maximize the business value delivered while maintaining a sustainable pace for the team
- Work with the Product Managers to ensure vision, goals, and objectives are established and achieved while making critical decisions regarding priority for the technical team with a focus on delivering value
- Apply an Agile mindset and behavior to effectively collaborate with the engineering team and stakeholders
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to identify strategic and operational risks to timelines and deliverables to create appropriate mitigation and contingency plans
- Facilitates and participates in collaboration activities with both business and technical stakeholders to engineer requirements
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in product management or related role
- Demonstrated ability to drive product development with high velocity and quality
- Financial services or Insurance is a plus
Must-Have Skills/Abilities:
- Experience in digital product ownership, digital product creation, consulting for digital products, or similar roles
- Extensive knowledge of Agile Values, Principles, and mindset
- Certified in Scaled Agile - SAFe® Product Owner (PO/PM) - Preferred NOT REQUIRED
- Demonstrated track record in effective requirement elicitation and analysis
- Strong experience in a dynamic product management role
- Highly effective cross-functional team management
- Exceptional organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
- Proficiency using Confluence, JIRA, Clarity, and Jira Align
- Honesty/Integrity
- Openness to criticism and feedback
- Possesses a strong ability to drive projects to completion and ensure that tasks are efficiently and effectively executed
