As a Portfolio Manager, you will play a critical role in aligning strategy and execution by applying Lean and systems thinking approaches to product portfolio management. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, business stakeholders, and executive management to prioritize product initiatives, track progress, and manage risks. Your expertise in product strategy, agile practices, and portfolio governance will contribute to the organization's overall success.
Key Responsibilities:
• Portfolio Strategy: Develop a product portfolio vision aligned with the organization's goals, objectives, and strategic direction. Define and prioritize product initiatives, ensuring they maximize business value and contribute to broader organizational objectives. Allocate resources effectively across the portfolio to optimize outcomes.
• Planning and Execution: Collaborate with product managers / product owners to define product strategies, epics, and minimum viable products (MVPs). Work with cross-functional teams to create product roadmaps and delivery plans. Monitor and track progress, ensuring initiatives meet customer needs, are delivered with quality, and align to any budget or timing constraints.
• Risk Management: Identify and assess risks associated with product initiatives and portfolios. Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans. Monitor risk factors and take proactive measures to ensure successful delivery.
• Stakeholder Management: Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders, including executive management, business units, and cross-functional teams. Communicate delivery status, risks, and opportunities effectively, managing expectations and ensuring alignment with business needs.
• Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Establish performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the progress and success of product initiatives and portfolios. Generate regular reports and executive dashboards to provide visibility into portfolio performance.
• Governance and Compliance: Ensure adherence to product management methodologies, portfolio management frameworks, and regulatory requirements. Implement best practices and standards across the product portfolio.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency within the product portfolio management function. Implement best practices, lessons learned, and feedback mechanisms to drive continuous improvement.
• Excellent people management skills and a proven track record of building and retaining a high-performing team.
Qualifications and Skills:
• BS/BA degree or equivalent working experience. Master’s degree is a plus.
• Proven experience as Product Portfolio Manager or a similar role, demonstrating successful management of complex product portfolios and a track record of successful delivery.
• Strong diplomacy and excellent communication skills with the ability to present and communicate effectively in front of leadership, stakeholders, and customers.
• Technical aptitude with experience / knowledge / education in benefits administration (or related field), product development, product design, and process improvement.
• Analytical and strategic thinking abilities to assess risks, make informed decisions, and drive portfolio success.
• Ability to identify and implement best practices and continual improvements.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives concurrently.
• Professional certifications in Product Management (Product School, Pragmatic Institute, etc.), Agile Methodologies (Scrum Alliance, SAFe, etc.), and Project Management (PMP) are a plus.
• Excellent people management skills and a proven track record of building and retaining a high-performing team.

Standard working hours are 8am-5pm Central Time, unless otherwise stated in the Job Description.
In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary range for this position is $120,000-$140,000, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. If you are hired at bswift, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors – we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth. We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package!
