What You'll Do:
• Contribute to key overall division initiatives in product development design requirements, product application and competitive strategy, industry compliance initiatives, and contributions to growing the VRF and DFS industry in the US market.
• Working in conjunction with other functional areas (Operations, Product Planning and Marketing) across the US CAC team to develop the right products and deliver one message for LG's customers and help drive growth.
• Track industry direction and developments in ASHRAE and other standards and develop strategies for product development accordingly
• Analyze, build, and maintain competitive product strategies
• Gather voice of the customer and prioritize product developments to fill business needs
• Identify strategic product needs, evaluate feasibility of product concepts, develop requirements, and develop presentation of concepts, applications, and requirements to enter into product planning roadmap
• Draw competitive comparisons between directly competing products.
• Identify and manage priorities for LG product development opportunities with revenue potential, business/customer importance, resource availability and existing product portfolio in mind.
• Develop business and technical cases and strategic direction/application to drive requests to fill product gaps and provide requirements for factory developed equipment and controls products
• Gather market needs and develop product design requirements
• Define product/feature requirements and effectively communicate with the factory through product/feature development process
• Work closely with factory R&D teams to understand product features and operation to create strategic direction for proper product applications and competitively advantaging LG products.
• Lead scheduled and ad-hoc meetings with customers, partners, sales teams, and factory/R&D stakeholders to ensure strategic product plan and specific product features meet market needs and drive additional CAC business growth.
• Develop and align Product Road Map (PRM) and set schedule expectations with Development team, NPI stakeholders, and Sales team
• Lead/manage NPI projects, outsourcing projects, and existing product information/data.
• Develops and maintains project plans and communicates status to management and internal teams. Identifies and manages technical and schedule dependencies and ensures that they are understood, planned for and executed against, appropriately.
• Collaborate with LG technical writers and Marketing with development and maintenance of literature including engineering manuals, catalogs, submittals, guide specifications, and installation manuals.
• Manager needs to know communications/announcements with the field including product updates, product/accessory inclusions/exclusions, feature upgrades, new product availability, end of life, etc.
Desired Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in ME, EE or equivalent with advanced and progressive skills in US applied commercial air conditioning industry including experience in technical product applications support required
• Successful history of interaction with factory R&D teams
• New Product Introduction (NPI): product definition, product/feature prioritization, product details/operation, strategic application, and positioning
• Domestic HVAC background and experience in residential, commercial, or industrial is crucial
• Global air conditioning industry experience a plus
• Experience with VRF (variable refrigerant flow), Ductless mini-split, Outside Air Systems, Packaged Rooftop Systems, Commercial/Custom Air Handler systems a plus
• Experience in Product and/or Project Management a plus
• PM Certification a plus
• Comfortable presenting to and engaging with a technical audience including Engineers, R&D, and Business leaders
• Adaptable to the management style and process methods of foreign colleagues to achieve common goals
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical and architectural blueprints, specifications and HVAC equipment submittal data
