Summary

This position will support New Equipment, Modernizations, and of straighteners in Long Products Mill equipment. Develop relationships with specific customer locations where it relates to maintenance, operations, and purchasing. Maintain good working relationships with the sales teams and support them when needed in all areas of the Long Products mills.

What you'll do

  • Responsible for product advancement in the straightener product line. Supports product group customers and sales targets.
  • Supports new equipment and reconditioning business in the LP market.
  • Provide onsite technical assistance and inspections to customers as it relates to LP mill components.
  • Work directly with the Plant Managers, Engineering group, and Sales team as it relates to straighteners in LP.
  • Work directly with Project Managers focused as straightener technical support to reduce project timelines and cost saving measures.
  • Interaction with respective Product Managers from various COE's.
  • Provide field service oversight, supporting customer projects/expectations with an emphasis on quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Support continuous growth initiatives utilizing a one team approach and through common goals.
  • Responsible for quality of work at a given customer and bring RFQs and potential sales opportunities from designated customer locations.
  • Review all proposals prior to submission to the customer, submit or approve/authorize proposal submissions.
  • Develop or assist in creation of scope of work or required supply for spare parts, prospective projects and/or field service opportunities.
  • Interact with Estimators, Account Specialists and Product Managers to explain/clarify work scope for repairs and modernizations and/or spare part RFQs.
  • Work with customers to develop concepts for improvement of customer equipment.
  • Complete reporting requirements for customer, including but not limited to meeting reports, Certify expense reports, CRM updates, updating customer contact information.
  • On site review/repair of customer equipment issues, including aiding in resolving warranty claims.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested by SUS upper management.
  • Provide customer and SUS facilities with frequent status reports
  • Ensure project schedules and/or deliveries are being met, if not communicate with customer and SUS facilities and/or Business Units

What you'll need

  • Mechanical background focused on the ability to perform detailed inspections, and provide a technical scope of work through written/oral feedback
  • Engineering degree with 2+ years steel/metals industry experience or broad knowledge and experience in the steel industry hot and/or cold rolling mill experience a plus but not necessary
  • Sales background, negotiating skills and manufacturing understanding a plus
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with high-level customers
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices
  • Strong team player and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and multi task.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
  • Requires travel to NAFTA market established accounts.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Computer Skills: SAP CRM, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and Project Software, Engineering Software (CAD/CAM) - not required but useful
  • Demonstrated prior success in achieving results using team driven philosophies
  • Demonstrated proficiency in supporting corporate interest from remote site locations and ability to communicate and exercise very positive people skills.
