Job Description

The Product Specialist will proactively recommend new solutions or enhancements to existing Commercial and Personal product lines of business. This person will maintain an active presence in all stages of the product development process, including collaboration with business units and IT. The purpose of this role is to identify and analyze key products, compliance, performance and profitability drivers such as distribution, rate structure and rules to validate assumptions, identify adverse impacts, trends and solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Support Commercial and Personal Underwriting product strategies and initiatives.
  • Gathers information from multiple sources, according to company guidelines, to perform analysis.
  • Provides context and understanding of information to anticipate the multiple variables and complexities needed in research.
  • Applies judgement and understanding of data and provides analysis considering multiple complexities to build fully developed solutions.
  • Analyzes and reviews financial results, product profitability, business mix and competitive information and forecast performance.
  • Completes work within established time and service standards. May manage timelines and coordinate project work through others. Plans work to ensure rate review and other key processes are completed, ensuring speed to market.
  • Partner with affiliate, Auto-Owners Insurance Company, in the filing of Product & Rule changes with state departments.
  • Partner with IT to identify effort, scope and define requirements to assure accurate and timely implementation.
  • Promote and execute strategies that will allow Concord Group to better integrate with Auto-Owners Insurance.
  • Complete ad hoc analyses as needed.
  • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Identify any possible enhancements to existing products and identify new product through legal research.
  • Provide input to management on existing and new product features, including regulatory requirements, reporting, general design and delivery of product data and marketing collateral.
  • Attend meetings with IT, analytics teams, marketing/sales and actively respond to any concerns and report back to the Product Administration Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferably in analysis, mathematics, statistics, business or economics.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact in a team environment and across multiple departments.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to mine data, analyze and present results to leadership.
