This position is responsible for assisting in the development, distribution and use of competitive information, competition studies and analytic reports that are used by Product Management, Product Development, Member Firms and Partner Carriers, in order to facilitate product evaluation, identify product trends, and drive better results for M Member Firms and their clients.
Your efforts, analysis, and insights will help shape the future of M's product portfolio.
Key areas of responsibility include analysis of insurance products, maintenance of tools and reports, data aggregation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Product Comparison:
• Maintain up-to-date competitive studies for M's proprietary products and their key competitors
• Use a variety of methods and software to generate competitive data
• Use Excel to cleanse and aggregate competitive data for reporting
Product research:
• Seek out information on competitor products from various sources
• Conduct competitive analysis and create summaries of competitor products
Intelligence:
• Provide supporting material for white papers to assist Member Firms in understanding and communicating life insurance products
• Provide competitive reports to various stakeholders, such as other teams and external partners
• Assist in answering questions from Member Firms about products
• Track changes to the life insurance product landscape
Miscellaneous:
• Continually enhance knowledge of life insurance and investment products, financial software, taxation, and financial analysis methodologies and concepts
• Provide support and product insights for sales support team
• Maintain reports of key product features and parameters
• Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in Math, Finance or related field
• Some work experience in finance or analytics preferred
• Experience with Excel required
• Experience with VBA and SQL preferred
• Comfort managing large amounts of data
• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills with an eye for detail
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Carriers, Member Firms, and fellow M Team Members
JOB CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT
- Hybrid work environment in Portland, OR offering a blend of virtual/work from home and onsite days designed to support flexibility
- Normal office environment/desk assignment
- Extensive use of PC's, computer terminal, display, keyboard, and mouse
- Extensive hands-on work with documents, spreadsheets, and other written documents
- Potential for light travel (up to 10%)
