The Product Stewardship Specialist assists in the creation and management of the Materion-wide uniform and centralized product stewardship customer communication system. The product stewardship programs utilize technology to create useful EHS information and tools to provide guidance on toxic materials to both employers and employees throughout the supply chain. Assists sales and marketing personnel to address product specific, customer EHS issues. Assists with product regulatory compliance mandates, industry standards, customer certifications and demand generator conformance audits are fulfilled.

The position will be based at our Corporate Office in Mayfield Heights, OH. If not local to the Cleveland area, Materion will offer relocation assistance.

You will have the opportunity to:
  • Assists with maintaining web-based product stewardship systems, information and tools to communicate potential product hazards to product users throughout the supply chain. Participates in program to routinely review and update technical content of hundreds of beryllium product stewardship customer tools.
  • Creates and maintains Safety Data Sheets using 3E Generate SDS Authoring Software.
  • Maintains an electronic Materion-wide SDS and Product Information Sheet management/recordkeeping system integrated with SAP order entry system.
  • Assists with the fulfillment of all customer compliance certification requests for RoHS, REACH, Conflict Minerals, medical devices, etc.
  • Participates in the Responsible Minerals Sourcing Program to determine the sources of covered minerals and to fulfill Security & Exchange Commission (SEC) required annual Conflict Minerals filing and report.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • 4-year degree in industrial hygiene, safety, product stewardship or a related scientific field.
  • Coursework in worldwide EHS and product stewardship regulations is desirable.
  • Minimum of 3 years of industrial hygiene, safety and product stewardship experience involving the management and control of toxic substance(s) is required.
  • Specific knowledge of beryllium regulatory, legislative, occupational health issues and the science of beryllium toxicology is preferred.
  • Having or working toward professional certification such as, Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Professional Product Steward (CPPS) designation is preferred.

The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee., a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
