Spot & Tango is an innovative pet health & wellness brand that delivers personalized meal plans on a subscription basis. Our recipes are developed by leading animal nutritionists, and are made with only real, human-grade ingredients... and nothing artificial! We have lofty goals (to make every dog in the country healthier, and every pet parent happier!) and we are looking for the right people to help us get there. Who You Are

Product development processes:

• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to ideate and design engaging new digital experiences on our web and mobile platforms
• Leverage UX research to inform website flow and feature design
• Build and iterate on wireframes with product team and relevant stakeholders (growth, ops, CX, etc.)
• Execute wireframes to create beautiful, polished, pixel-perfect UI designs that are in line with brand guidelines + systems and ready to be handed off to engineering team
• Work with engineers and product team to adapt + optimize designs for easy implementation and to account for edge cases
• Collaborate with engineers as they are building products to provide guidance on design vision and polish
• Maintain and utilize design system to keep the product consistent across all forms of digital design
• Research on-site user experience, synthesize for executive team, and use those findings to constantly improve the website
• Help to conceive of and implement A/B tests to improve website conversion rate
• Create designs with purpose – think strategically about customer acquisition and retention (we are a subscription business) and design with business objectives in mind
• Design and improve a variety of different types of pages and experiences – homepage, landing pages, product detail pages, personalized questionnaire flow, checkout screen, customer portal, etc.
• Work on designs for all customer touchpoints – email templates, SMS marketing, help center, What The Pup (blog), etc.
• Lean into other facets of design work as needs arise (e.g., packaging design, illustration, graphic design, print design for brochures / box inserts, pitch decks), leveraging partners / external design talent as necessary
• Engage with external agencies as part of our broader branding work (e.g., updating brand guidelines, systems, typography, color palette, brand voice, illustrations and visual language)

Requirements:

• 3-5 years working as a product or UI/UX designer, designing responsive web and mobile experiences across different products and user demographics
• A keen attention to detail and a passion for good design and aesthetics
• Experience using agile methodologies to deliver products and technologies
• Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate complex ideas to technical and non-technical team members, partners, and stakeholders
• Ability to dive into the details with engineers and also synthesize findings at an executive level
• Deep knowledge of the unique traits, features and constraints when designing for both web and mobile experiences
• A strong visual designer and prototyper – you have proven experience designing for mobile, and are well-versed in, Figma and Adobe Suite including photoshop and illustrator, with the ability to produce sophisticated prototypes
• Strong sense of curiosity and a desire to constantly improve
• A self-starter who knows how to figure things out without clear direction
• You take pride in your work and go above and beyond to get deliverables over the line
• Based in New York City or willingness to relocate
• Able to work efficiently remotely until we return to the office in NYC
• Experience with / interest in working with external designers and branding agencies
• Familiarity with systems – you can both define long term systems-level thinking and incorporate it into daily projects

  • Experience with graphic design, packaging design, illustration, print design is a plus
  • Experience designing experience for ecommerce, especially subscription brands is a big plus
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS is desirable
  • Pet lovers a plus!

This is a hybrid position.

You must be able to commute into our office in Midtown Manhattan Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
