We currently have an opening for a Production Manager at our Hamilton, Montana facility.

The Production Manager will oversee the daily operations of the packaging area, as well as managing the harvesting and packaging of plants, coordination of production workers and standards for production, harvesting, packing, and cooling. The production manager will own the preparation and communication of the daily packing schedule and will ensure all crop production and packing is on schedule and of high quality. Furthermore, the Production Manager will assist in research and development of new products and techniques. This key hire will implement and suggest new processes as warranted and have a visible presence of approximately 70% on the floor in production areas. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in training, development, and support of employees to ensure employees excel at their role.
  • Owns the preparation of the daily packing schedule and works with VP, Operations and the General Manager to build longer term forecasts.
  • Supervises, trains, and coaches production team members.
  • Coordinates harvesting/packing activities with Growing, Sales, and Supply Chain team members.
  • Estimates and keep current on a short, mid, and long-term basis the packing quantities of the different products.
  • Maintains accurate count of packaging availability.
  • Explains and demonstrates care-taking techniques to subordinates.
  • Maintain and improve labor ratios.
  • Meet all efficiency objectives for Hamilton facility.
  • Ensure budgets are meet for the year.
  • Plan and organize the work of departments to minimize unplanned downtime of production.
  • Administers effective performance evaluations, development plans and disciplinary actions. Mentors employees through formal and informal channels, identifying development needs, and counseling.
  • Report an unsafe conditions.
  • Perform job in accordance with Industrial and Food Safety regulations.

Requirements:

  • Able to accommodate flexible work schedule according to business needs.
  • Reliable transportation to cover all working hours.
  • Ability to lift or move a minimum of 40 pounds.
  • Ability and willingness to be occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, temperatures between 35 and 90 degrees, and safely work near moving mechanical parts, and equipment.
  • Ability and willingness to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, stoop, kneel, crouch, taste, smell, etc., as needed to perform essential tasks.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Available to work holidays, weekends, and after hours as needed.

Education and Experience:

  • 5 - 7 years of supervisory experience working in a packaging industry or greenhouse experience.
  • High School diploma or GED
