Production Manager, Series Development

The Production Manager, Series Development partners closely with the filmmakers, Creative Group, and reports to the Physical Production Executives. This role serves as the primary production management liaison between series development projects and studio production.

Sony Pictures Animation is a pre-production animation studio based in Culver City, California, creating both feature animation and animated series with artists from around the world. • Partner with creative group to create project specific development schedules and milestones
• Manage series development by attending creative meetings and reviewing submissions
• Track and oversee projects through all stages of development
• Guide key creatives toward project goals
• Build and maintain project schedules, budgets, and staffing profiles needed to get projects to the “Network Pitch” phase.
• Collaborate with SVP Physical Production and Exec Director Physical Production in development of Series schedule and budgets as needed.
• Effectively manage a balance between studio goals and project needs
• Where applicable, manage artists, facilitating writers, help identify and manage external vendors in the service of delivering materials for the Pitch Bible or any “sizzle” pieces deemed necessary for a Series in Development
• Supervise Associate Production Managers and Production Coordinators in development
• Maintain and deliver a weekly status report to Physical Production Executives regarding the status of Series in Development
• Assist on series in production in an ad-hoc basis, easily slipping into the pipeline and working at the direction of the Line Producers current production priorities

• Previous experience in production management for series animation or VFX
• Knowledge and understanding of storytelling and animation principles
• Excellent people leadership skills, including the ability to accurately read people and their needs
• Flexibility to react quickly as pipeline pivots or milestone needs to be adjusted based on creative needs of the project
• Composure to absorb setbacks and challenges
• High degree of interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and proactive thinking
• Strong communication, problem solving and leadership skills
• Natural interpersonal skills capable of building positive relationships
• Ability to work with both in-person and remote groups
