General Summary
The Production Manager – Stages is responsible for ensuring the effective execution of the production schedule on the shooting floor and managing the Stage Production team.

Job Functions

  • Maintain the daily and weekly shoot schedule, providing replacement shots for missed targets, as well as overseeing and maintaining the call sheet and shooting floor priorities.
  • Track delays and mitigate where possible and consult with Creative Leadership on delays and overages to ensure course correction and improved anticipation measures. 
  • Supervise floor-based Assistant Director (AD) team including prioritization of tasks, resource allocation, best practices for reporting protocols, onboarding, and training new staff.
  • Actively collaborate with the Production Team, Stage Crew and Creative Leads to troubleshoot issues on set.
  • Ownership of stage-based communication and reporting structures across the shooting floor, including organizing and running Crew Dailies.
  • Oversee daily Big Board meetings to ensure that stage teams are clear on daily and weekly schedules and priorities for the shooting floor.
  • Work with Feature Production Manager, Department Production Managers and Stage Leadership to facilitate effective stage planning for set locations, delivery dates and wrap dates.
  • Assist Feature Production Manager and Puppet Wrangling team in upholding best practices for Puppet Hospital in their support of the shooting stages.
  • Organize and troubleshoot maquette, carcass and set scouts.
  • Provide coverage for Edit Production where needed.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in a managerial role on a feature film production.
  • Extensive experience working as a 1st Assistant Director on feature films, preferably in stop motion animation or high-budget productions.
  • Strong knowledge of film production processes and practices including a general understanding of stop motion fabrication processes.
  • Expert knowledge and experience with production tracking and management database software, preferably ShotGrid and/or MS Project.
  • Strong time management, planning, problem solving and analytical skills including clear verbal and written communications.
  • Strong creative and critical thinking.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adaptable and capable of effectively managing changing priorities.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication abilities.
