Production Operator (Coating)

Position Overview:

Solid Power is seeking a 2nd Shift Production Operator (Coating) to join our talented team working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next-generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries. Solid Power is a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative team environment. This position will work closely with the other production operators / technicians and engineers to help set up, operate, tear down equipment used in slurry preparation, coating, electrode fabrication and cell assembly operations.

Job Duties:

• Follow safety, quality, and standard operating procedures for cleaning and maintaining Solid Power’s production equipment. 
• Setup, operate, tear down, and maintain slot die coater and mix delivery system to meet electrode production quality and throughput demands with rigor and attention to detail.
• Assist in maintaining production equipment, workspace, and dry room in proper working conditions following 5S protocol.
• Support root cause analysis of process upsets, equipment failures and customer complaints to identify & implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
• Maintain operational and quality documentation of manufacturing process, asset capabilities and capacities.
• Ensure product quality specifications are appropriately established and maintained throughout production.
• Lead/Participate in cross functional problem-solving and improvement teams at the department level.
• Utilize a methodical approach to problem solving, both independently and as a coating team, to recognize and implement solutions during production runs and through the manufacturing process.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• At least 3-5 years of previous experience as a coating operator on a thin film/paper roll-to-roll processing.
• Experience with slot die, cascade die or curtain die fluid application methods on a roll-to-roll coating process required.
• Experience with other fluid application methods on a roll-to-roll coating process highly desirable.
• Knowledge of common industrial processes and testing protocols for thin coatings.
• BS or technical degree preferred.
• Hands-on experience working with hazardous materials, dry powder processes, and wet chemical/slurry and solvent-based operations.
• Experience with battery unit operations is desirable as is clean-room experience, preference for candidates with experience running mixing, coating or other roll to roll equipment.
• Experience using PLC controlled robotics a plus
• Experience in the printing field a plus
• Rapid learner who thrives in a fast-paced start-up environment
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• The candidate must be responsible, self-motivated and capable of running a team, with a history of stable employment and performance
• The candidate will regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Availability to work 2nd Shift, which is 1:30pm to 12:00am, Tuesday through Friday

Salary Range: $24.05-$30.29/hour
