GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the daily activities of the team to ensure the safety, quality and productivity on their shift.
- Communicate with prior shift team leader to understand all operational and quality issues.
- Review and sign all communications at the beginning of shift (i.e. What's New Board, Quality Alerts, etc.).
- Ensure that all production personnel in your area have read, understood and signed all required documentation. (I.e. Work Instructions, Start-up Checklist, etc.).
- Ensure all operators are trained effectively on safety, manufacturing process and quality checking aspects of their job.
- Drive workstation set-ups including the installation, testing and adjustment of tools, fixtures, and verification rabbits.
- Monitor and record employee's performance of procedures and other company policies to provide feedback for Operator development.
- Conduct performance reviews on all employees in consultation with Operations Manager
- Conduct daily shift meetings as required.
- Work with Materials and Operations Managers to coordinate operator activities in accordance with daily production schedule.
- Responsibilities for standardized work; including: lead the development of SW and buy-off (sign), incorporate appropriate product quality standards into standardized work, post and maintain SW at the job, audit SW to ensure adherence, train team members in SW, analyze recommendations for improvements, improve SW (eliminate waste), review changes in SW with production manager and interface with support people to accomplish changes in SW.
- Assist management to ensure that all departments are cooperative in ensuring accordance of plant safety.
- Ensure that first-off quality status of the parts is of acceptable nature and first-off is completed.
- Ensure that all quality standards are followed: interact with the Quality Group as necessary to understand the acceptable level of part quality.
- Work with other Team Leaders to resolve any quality issues that arise effectively and efficiently
- Ensure containment of any nonconforming product, and initiate the NCMR process and involve quality engineer where required.
- Responsible for efficiency, scrap, and downtime reporting on a daily basis.
- Take an active role in the inspection and maintenance of all plant equipment for defects and potential problems according to the Preventative Maintenance Program.
- Assist Engineering Group with trials and improvement opportunities.
- Work with Safety Manager to conduct audits, identify safety issues and ensure legislative compliance.
- Comply with and ensure all associates adhere to all policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Comply with and ensure all associates adhere to TS16949 Operating Procedures.
- Assume Operations Manager responsibilities when required.
- Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained.
- Continually monitor inventory levels to ensure that the production schedule can be met.
- Make suggestions for Continuous Improvement.
- Responsible for department's daily performance improvements and monitor accuracy of production recording.
- Implement and drive Autosystems TPS & 5S system.
- Understand and implement Mafact
- Perform any reasonable request by management.
- QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- Working knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation, OHSA required.
- First Aid and CPR Training preferred.
- Valid Forklift License preferred.
- Strong knowledge of industrial processes and machinery.
- Computer proficiency; Word, Excel, Lotus Notes and TRANS4M.
- PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
- Candidate must demonstrate a proven track record in performance and attendance in current position (below 3 points or below Written Warning).
- Aptitude for working with numbers and a high degree of accuracy.
- Effective trouble shooting for a variety of different situations/issues effectively.
- Good communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated flexibility and initiative in current role.
- Proven track record of performance and attendance in current role.
- Ability to promote teamwork and creativity in the workplace.
- Strength and ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.
- Possess initiative and willingness to learn.
- Physical Demands - Normal amount of sitting and standing; Ability to move around an office environment and on the production floor; Ability to work at a computer workstation; Ability to bend, twist, lift, reach. Required to carry out job duties and responsibilities in a work environment that may include, but is not limited to, varying levels of noise and/or temperature. Ability to lift max. 50lbs periodically.
