Position Summary:

We are seeking a talented Production Support Engineer (or Development Operations Engineer) to join our Global Team here out of our Portsmouth, NH Office.

This is an early in career position. Targeting candidates with roughly 1-4 years’ experience.

This person will be able to work remotely with occasional/infrequent visits to our Portsmouth, NH office to work. Person should be within driving distance of Portsmouth, NH 

The Development Operations Engineer (or Production Engineer) at Bottomline will be responsible for operating and enhancing the delivery pipeline for production banking platforms and ensuring technical environments are observable, scalable, and highly available.  In this role you will use your technical skills and your knowledge of infrastructure to ensure services run smoothly, with the ultimate goal of delivering a great customer experience.

How you’ll contribute:

• Working on assigned projects and escalating to senior engineers for assistance.
• Responsible for being part of an on-call rotation to support production systems 24x7.
• Learn and research new automation opportunities, seek senior approval on efforts. Use existing automation.
• Troubleshoot incidents and requests using existing runbooks, refine documentation using what you've learned.
• Operates independently while taking appropriate direction.
• Shows consistent initiative.
• Drives work to closure.
• Shows pride in quality of work being done.
• Understands, follows, and contributes to the refinement of team processes.
• Possesses demonstrated understanding and use of tools / processes used in this position (e.g., project manager would have experience with productivity tools and a developer would have experience with repository / SDLC).
• Identifies and manages risks making effort to mitigate or raising appropriately for guidance.
• Asks for help as appropriate and learns from it. Shares learnings with peers
• Engages with others to build relationships and develop a network.
• Understands objectives and desired outcomes for assigned areas of responsibility and sets personal goals accordingly.

The Skills that will make you successful:

• 1-4 years of experience in supporting production systems.
• Ability to write basic scripts to perform repeatable tasks.
• Basic understanding of different orchestration technologies (Puppet, Salt, Terraform, GitLab, etc)
• Basic understanding of the SDLC.
• Inquisitive and eager to learn.
• Shows initiative to learn and grow one’s own personal skills.
• Proven experience in relative field and/or a degree in related technologies
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Contributing to complex documentation
• Proven problem solving & analytical skills.
• Proven experience in capabilities or tools associated with a role (e.g., Java, Project Management tool etc.)
• Meets specific skills outlined in job description for specific role.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or related field, or equivalent experience
