Job Description:

Our Geospatial Community of Excellence is looking for a GIS Analyst with a passion for geospatial science, technologies, and engineering! This cross-disciplinary role requires an experienced professional with the ability to communicate across multiple facets of our organization while developing geospatial content and improving existing workflows and solutions.

The Professional, Geospatial Operations (GIS Analyst) is a mid-level technical position. The fundamental reason this job family exists is to assist with the development and maintenance of geographic information systems (GIS) datasets and coordinate special projects assigned by the GIS Leader. Most duties assigned are project-specific GIS support functions and customization and automation of repetitive tasks. Analysts may also coordinate updates and changes to the database, applying quality control procedures on the data to ensure its accuracy.

Essential duties for this role include:

• Supports the maintenance and development of various GIS datasets. This includes using GIS specific software to create and edit geospatial data, develop project-specific databases, obtain geospatial data from other sources, perform spatial analysis, and prepare map figures.
• Reviews data and perform quality assurance checks for adherence to quality specifications as required by client Identifies and analyzes trends in errors, analyze systemic errors and propose corrective measures to resolve them.
• Identifies and performs routine automation improvements.
• Assists Senior Analyst with QAQC issues and documents geospatial workflows.

Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Geography or a related field with specialization in GIS, and/or GIS Certification, is preferred. Other combinations of experience and education may be substituted.
• Up to 1 year of GIS-related internship or work experience
• Must be proficient in a number of computer applications, but must specifically possess GIS software skills; proficiency using ESRI products and MS Office is required.
• Must have experience creating and editing geospatial datasets and be proficient in cartographic and data visualization techniques.
• Provides good customer service, is goal oriented, self-motivated, and has excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Possesses a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Good organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• A working understanding or scripting languages is preferred (e.g. Python)
• Intermediate database skills.
