Position Summary

Perform radio frequency system engineering duties on the (4G)/5G Engineering Team

Role and Responsibilities

Perform radio frequency system engineering duties on the (4G)/5G Engineering Team. Provide engineering support to carrier customers through the innovative technology road map. Act as a key contributor as a subject matter expert in radio frequency (RF) and/or wireless transmission design. Design and plan wireless radio communications systems, including radio propagation modeling and prediction, interference analysis, frequency coordination, cell site equipment layout, parameter definition, and ancillary equipment. Conduct and assist in the simulation of wireless systems using various commercial tools. Conduct and assist in the design and performance test plans to ensure accurate and consistent product testing. Provide suggestions and analysis of large wireless network performance. Assist in the deployment and optimization of these networks to resolve a wide range of radio frequency performance issues. Use engineering expertise to work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Apply engineering testing processes and procedures to ensure reliability, accuracy, and thorough gathering and analysis of network data. Write noncomplex engineering code to automate test set-ups and procedures. Maintain knowledge of existing, current, and newly developed base station engineering products and components. Assist with the creation of test plans, trouble reports, automation scripts, and measure of performance (MOP); generate problem reports; and ensure the satisfactory resolution of all network problems. Interface with software/hardware design groups and align network issues with their activities of debugging and resolution. Prepares reports, compile and analyzes data, and assemble engineering information for the effective communication of processes, results, plans, recommendations, and conclusions for carrier customers. Lead remote technical teams for short term projects.

Skills and Qualifications

Master's Degree in Computer Networks, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, a related field, or a foreign equivalent plus 2 years of post-baccalaureate experience in job offered or related role. In lieu of a Master's Degree and 2 years of experience, Employer is willing to accept a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Networks, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, a related field, or a foreign equivalent and 5 years of progressively responsible post-baccalaureate experience in job offered or related. Applicants must have 2 years of experience (5 years in possession of a relevant Bachelor's Degree) in the following: (1) RF Design and Coverage optimization; (2) Deployment and Integration support through generating and creating RF Configuration files and scripts; (3) LTE Air Interface, PHY, MAC, RLC, RRC and PDCP layers; (4) UNIX/LINUX operating systems; (5) writing, reading, analyzing and interpreting technical journals and procedures; (6) wireless network architecture concepts including in the RAN domain; (7) FOA testing of the RF features, capability of the 5G/4G product/solution; and (8) Wireless/Cellular 4G-5G Network Performance Management and Troubleshooting. 20% domestic travel required.
