Program Analyst - NOAA
Job Description
Global Science & Technology, Inc (GST) is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our company as a Program Analyst supporting the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). This position is within the research division (STAR) of the NOAA Satellite Service (NESDIS) and supports a wide range of activities centered in the STAR front office. This position is at the STAR headquarters offices in College Park, MD, and engages with various support functions.
Position Summary:
Principally, in this front-office centered role, you will serve as an advisor and analyst to NOAA STAR leadership as you gain exposure to NESDIS, NOAA, and U.S. environmental satellite products and services.
Primary duties include:
- Helping to develop program strategies, identify research gaps and priorities, and understand user needs
- Bolster STAR front office communications across NESDIS
- Map STAR partnerships and product lifecycles.
- Help coordinate and guide the STAR research portfolio to meet broader NOAA and NESDIS priorities
- Collaborate across NESDIS and within STAR to help with performance metrics reporting
- Contribute to annual and other periodic reporting requirements
- Support a Science Council in various functions
Qualifications include:
- Team player who functions well working across multiple areas and on a variety of tasks.
- Good communication skills are key to success in this role.
- Attention to detail.
- Good time management.
- Competency with Microsoft product suite especially Excel spreadsheets.
- Smartsheet experience is highly desirable.
- An understanding of government strategic planning processes is a significant plus.
- Experience developing and managing project and action trackers.
Required Education/Experience/Skills:• Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Public or Business Administration, Environmental Science and/or Policy, Meteorology or Oceanography, or other fields relevant to or synthesizing skills engaged with federal science agency operations, strategic planning, project management• A minimum of 7 years experience with BS/BA or 5 years with MS/MA• Ability to meet deadlines in a highly dynamic environment• Google suite of applications experience is highly desired
